How does a Rabbi overcome Cancer using Emunah?

How does your Spirit (Ruach) affect your health?

The spirit of man is enlivened from the Heart
(Ruach Ish Mechalkal Mahalev).
Proverbs 18: 14

This means your spirit supports your health.

But when your spirit is depressed
it will reinforce your illness.

We all encounter reasons to worry in our lives.

Some people cannot handle worries.

They lose it.

This person’s spirit does not have the inner strength
necessary to deal with his worries.
Negativity dominates his mind with thoughts of what can possibly go wrong.

These people become overwhelmed by their worry.

Their fears weaken their spirit.

The Torah teaches us that we are not helpless.

You can become an ish gibbor (a strong person).

Your inner strength refuses to let your worries take over.
An ish gibbor accepts that HaShem lovingly guides his every move.

Even during difficult times, he responds with faith rather than fear.

Inner strength does not mean your life suddenly
becomes problem free or your illnesses disappear.

It means your healthy ruach gives you the courage
to face life’s challenges without being broken by them.

While your body might become weak,
your spirit will remain strong.

Rabbeinu Yonah (1180-1263) writes that a person
blessed with a healthy ruach is better able to bear physical suffering.

As King Solomon teaches,

“A joyful heart is good medicine.”

(Proverbs 17: 22).

The stronger your spirit becomes, the more resilient you are
when difficulties arise.

Rabbi Yisroel Brog points out something remarkable:

The ruach, a spiritual force,
has the ability to strengthen the body.

Yet the opposite is not necessarily true.
The body cannot strengthen the spirit.

A person may spend hours building physical strength,
yet still be overwhelmed by anxiety and worry.

That is why true health begins from within.

Caring for the body is important,
but lasting peace
comes from nurturing the ruach with
Emunah (faith), Bitachon (trust in HaShem)
and a positive outlook on life.

When your spirit is healthy, you face even the
greatest of challenges with courage and hope.

How can you strengthen your ruach so that it gives you greater resilience—
not only emotionally, but even when facing physical illness?

health, healing, and the remarkable power of the human spirit.
