How Must It All End? The Clock Is Ticking…
All wars have an end. Israel’s war with its enemies is no different in that regard. The question on everyone’s lips… is both how, and when. The “when” is hard to pinpoint… but it needs to be soon. Not only because the Israeli people have suffered immeasurably from the atrocities of October 7th, 2023, perpetrated on our people by Hamas with the gleeful participation of their Gazan neighbors…and in this war which has ensued, but because a window-of-opportunity now exists which will not remain indefinitely. This moment cannot be allowed to pass without seizing it… Carpe Diem!
Never in its history has Iran been so castrated. Israel has brought Iran’s proxies to their knees. Only one remains… the Houthis. They will continue to be a thorn in Israel’s side until their funding disappears. They will not change the course of history. Israel has decimated Iran’s military might on all of its borders. It has further destroyed Iran’s domestic national military capabilities through relentless airstrikes on their air force and facilities. There is not one credible voice suggesting that Israel should walk away from finishing the job. To do so would be to make worthless the sacrifices of the past 600+ days. We have lost our beloved soldiers defending our homeland. We have suffered the horrors of October 7th, and the pain of watching our innocent hostages starved, beaten, tortured and murdered while in Hamas hands. It is impossible for us to walk away now.
The world is focused on Gaza. What will happen to Gaza? Israel must have an even larger vision. What will happen to the Middle East? What will happen to Western Nations if Iran is not brought to its knees? It is hard to believe that European leaders are so short sighted as to condemn Israel at every opportunity. Do they not realize that their futures hang in the balance as well as ours? By focusing only on Gaza…those same leaders can please their Moslem constituents, but in the process, they are abandoning the vast majority of their own countrymen and women. Politics cannot simply be about winning the next election. Politicians need to be held to account by their own citizens… if anyone out there is actually paying attention!
The question remains… what does victory look like? Each of us has an opinion on this. It really does not matter what we “think.” All that matters…is what will bring Iran to its knees. And have no doubt about the options. That is now what is required. The head of the Octopus that I wrote about on December 4, 2024, ( https://blogs.timesofisrael.com/the-head-of-the-octopus/ ) is all that is left. The tentacles have been severed. As long as Iran has its oil and gas revenues, Iran will be able to re-constitute itself. Their strength came from their wealth… nothing more.
President Trump has interjected himself into the future of Iran’s nuclear ambitions. There is not one of us in Israel who believes that Iran can be trusted in any agreement. Trump will do what he feels is best for the U.S.A. That is his mandate. Our concerns are similar, but not identical. They should be…and they must be. Iran must be neutered. That must be the ultimate goal of any future action. It appears as though Iran has called Trump’s “bluff.” Now if he is to retain any credibility as a world leader, he must be decisive and follow-through, with Israel as his partner.
Trump’s suggestion of a one-year moratorium on their nuclear program, which already has them a maximum of two weeks away from producing six nuclear warheads… might have actually have had some potential value, even though it did not appear as such. Still, it appears that the Ayatollah and his evil-step-brothers, are not willing to play ball. Whilst their options are limited, they are rolling the dice for a total win. Trump can help to ensure Israel’s survival, simply by providing Israel the weaponry to decimate the Iranian nuclear sites carved deep below the earth, hidden by mountains of stone. This not just for Israel. If he wants to save his own nation from the long arm of Iranian evil, this most certainly is not the time to cower.
Experts on Iran’s nuclear program have been saying for years, that destroying its infrastructure is far more difficult than many presume. With multiple Iranian sites deep below ground… no worse than that… below stone mountains…simply bombing- as Israel has done elsewhere, will not be sufficient. The technology exists to destroy these deep-cavernous centers, but those weapons (and the ability to deliver them…), only exist in the U.S. military. Trump cannot stop Israel from acting on its own behalf, but it is widely believed that only with the American weapons and delivery systems… can those sites truly be destroyed. Hence, Israel needs its own plan which is not dependent on “from which side of the proverbial bed”, the U.S. President chooses – to join those of us who have our lives and the future of our loved ones …at stake.
There is an alternative, another way to destroy Iran – a way which is no secret to anyone…but which few discuss. Israel is capable of bombing Iran’s oil and gas industry. These are not hidden under mountains. A military campaign to destroy these lifelines of Iranian mega wealth, would leave Iran broken financially. No money for defense. No money to support Hezbollah… Hamas…the Houthis…none for their military…none for the Muslim Brotherhood… no money to keep the Ayatollah and his Mullahs in power.
The serpent has had its day. Its fangs have injected their poison throughout the Middle East. Israel must perpetrate the mortal blow that the Iranian regime deserves. Once financially brought to its knees, Iran’s people can accomplish the complete overthrow required.
Israel can take care of the rest. Trump’s offer of a one-year moratorium from Iran’s enrichment program might have given Israel the needed time to eradicate Iran’s oil and gas production facilities. Iran has rejected this offer…possibly because they are simply lying about only being at 60% enrichment. There are experts that say they could deliver nuclear bombs in a matter of two weeks from now.
If the US and Israel have been discussing the destruction of Iran’s source of its wealth, they would acknowledge that such a plan would have a double impact on the future of the world as we know it today. Iran’s oil and gas industry is also the bread and butter of Russia’s wealth. It is Russian pipelines which deliver the “liquid-gold” to Europe and beyond. There are those who have written that this entire war… beginning with the October 7th barbaric attacks… was intended to destroy the Abraham Accords, precisely because the member nations were discussing the creation of their own pipeline, to cut off both the Iranian and Russian revenue streams. Iran wanted and orchestrated the attacks of October 7th. Their only quandary was whether they should instruct Hezbollah or Hamas to perpetrate the horrors upon our innocents. They chose Hamas because they were less valuable to Iran’s military establishment. That decision did not benefit Iran. Israel destroyed Hezbollah as well as Hamas, in the aftermath. From an Israeli perspective, there is little difference between the two proxies. Both invested every fiber of their being, and every shekel…dollar…in whatever currency they acquired…to plan the annihilation of Israel and the Jewish people. We have their instruction manuals issued from Iran. We will not ignore the proof of their evil.
Those of us not privy to the conversations between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Donald Trump … must admit that we have no first-hand knowledge of their agreements or plans for our region. Do not despair when you read headlines or opinion pieces from political pundits claiming that Trump is selling Israel “out.” It would behoove us all to give our leaders more credit than they are currently receiving. Israelis need not panic. The solution to destroying Iran’s power is very clear. Ultimately our future is in our own hands. Israel has proven that it is quite capable of taking care of itself.
The clock is ticking. The future of the entire Middle East depends on Israel’s abilities. Look at the options… there are none.
