Hubert Humphrey vs. Joe Biden – Who Did Golda Respect Most?

בסייד

Just to refresh your memory, I grew up with the greatest respect for former Minnesota Senator and Vice President Hubert Humphrey. He was well respected by all Minnesotans because he firmly believed in the fight for Human and Civil Rights. And in my opinion, and the opinion of many others, Hubert Humphrey’s 1948 speech to the Democratic National Convention fighting for Civil Rights, jump started the Civil Rights Movement resulting in the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Without Hubert Humphrey’s strong leadership to help pass the Civil Rights Act in 1964, one can only wonder how many more years would be needed before it would become law. And may I add that Humphrey’s concern for Human Rights extended to all other population groups and religions.

Hubert Humphrey Had The Greatest Respect For Israel, Its Leaders And World Jewry

Hubert Humphrey was especially sensitive to the needs of Israel. He knew Israel was fighting against an enemy who was determined to erase it from the face of the earth, and therefore he was so concerned for Israel and its citizens, that he would take time to visit the Jewish State and meet with its leaders.

Golda Meir Was One Of Hubert Humphrey’s Greatest Admirers

In the film “A Woman Called Golda”, of all US lawmakers to have visited Golda Meir in Israel, it is interesting only Hubert Humphrey featured in this film on visits he made to meet Golda.

In one kibbutz scene, Humphrey discusses his concern regarding Israel needing to increase its population by encouraging young couples to marry and have children. This, of course, is consistent with the Torah commandment to be fruitful and multiply.

In another scene, Humphrey visits Golda to discuss selling Israel the military weapons and equipment it needs to defend itself against the Arabs. This clearly shows how concerned Humphrey was about Israel and its survival at that time and for the future.

Contrast This With Joe Biden’s Concern For Israel During His Meeting With Golda Meir

In the October 20, 2020 TOI article; a link, to which appears above, Joe Biden clearly did not understand the threat Israel was facing when he met Golda Meir in 1973. That became obvious when reading key points in the article, which are as follows-

Biden warned that Israel’s actions in the territories it had captured during the Six Day War, including the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, were leading to “creeping annexation.”

Since he believed Israel was militarily dominant in the region, he suggested the Jewish state might initiate a first step for peace through unilateral withdrawals from areas with no strategic importance.

Biden criticized the Nixon administration for being “dragged by Israel,” complaining that it was impossible to have a real debate in the Senate about the Middle East as senators were fearful of saying things unpopular with Jewish voters.

Meir rejected Biden’s call for unilateral steps.

Today, Biden Remains More Concerned About Supplying Funds To The Terrorists Firing Missiles Into Israel Than To Defend America’s Ally

And Biden’s Attitude Is Encouraging A Spike In Violent Crime Across The US Against Jews

Joe Biden’s poor attitude toward Israel is now making its presence felt throughout the United States. He continues to refuse to visit Israel to see the situation for himself. And his refusal to investigate and shut up the Hamas supporters in Congress is making America a much more dangerous place for Jews to live. That is also helping to cause a spike in crimes against other minorities such as the Asian population.

But also, Biden and his VP’s refusal to visit the Southern US border is further proof Biden does not have any concern for the safety of US taxpayers who are forced to provide food and shelter for these individuals without knowing who they are, where they come from and if they have a criminal record. The sad part is the many children that are sent without their parents and smuggled into the US; a crises Biden and Harris continues to ignore.

The Decision To Make No Mention Of Joe Biden In This Film Is Understandable

Given Biden’s lack of concern regarding the constant threat the Arabs posed at the time Biden met with Golda Meir, it is no surprise Joe Biden never features in the film honoring Golda’s life and legacy.

And now that Joe Biden is US President, it is equally disturbing that he continues to show his support for the Palestinians and Hamas over and above his concern for Israel and its citizens.

On This Memorial Day Weekend – The Memory Of Hubert Humphrey Should Be Honored Rather Than George Floyd

There should be no argument that Hubert Humphrey gave his political life to serve his country. He was the driving force behind the Civil Rights Act and many related pieces of legislation that followed. And for that alone, there should be greater recognition for Humphrey who was often called the “Happy Warrior”.

Israel also has much to thank Hubert Humphrey for. Now that my family makes Israel our home, we will be forever grateful to Hubert Humphrey for providing support to Israel when we needed it most in the face of Arab aggression.

I am sure Golda Meir would have agreed if she were alive today.
