Iran’s miscalculation

The Iranian regime thought that by dragging the negotiations on (thus dragging the war on), Republicans would lose both houses. This, they felt, would diminish Trump’s ability to wage war.

But it may prove to be a fatal miscalculation. Because Trump might feel that now he should quickly wage war, before Democrats take over the houses in two months.

Netanyahu is also eager to bomb Iran now, in case Israel’s opposition parties somehow manage to form a government.

Netanyahu has long held that Iran poses an existential threat to Israel and to humanity, and he has been urging Trump to attack.

Now it might happen. Now the US and Israel might finish the job.

Losing elections can sometimes spur the losing party to achieve great things. There is a Chassidic expression that a descent can bring a very high ascent.

Sometimes a lost election proves to be just the thing that was needed.

Iran figured that they can gain by weakening Trump. What they failed to realize, is that a falling down in elections can actually lead to their own downfall.
