The Outcome of the War Was Decided Before the First Shot Was Fired

The world has changed while we Israelis and Jews have kept our heads buried, blinkered, inside our various ghetto-bubbles, commiserating our persecutions and reiterating how we are repeated victims of hate. We behave like a flock of Woody Allen clones gone wild. “The world will hate us no matter what we do, #$^% them! Our trust is in the IDF.”

So, What Mysterious Force Is Winning These Wars Before A Shot Is Fired?

Israelis and Jews still simplistically think wars are won by the military — despite repeatedly painful experience demonstrating the reality that terror groups emerge victorious against the IDF, and even the U.S., with only a few thousand “operatives”.

Today, the most elite soldiers have progressed from special ops to black ops to cyber ops. And, guess what, cyber ops are not even primarily confined to computer nerds, viruses, hacking or classified military computer centers. The mysterious force that wins wars today operate from the world’s living rooms, studies and offices; influencing — molding — world opinion in the world’s leading internet forums. Yeah, you are the useless, whining Israeli Cyber Forces Army that never showed up to fight while the IDF was fighting in your place valiantly, and some of our sons died, without you!

Schoolyard Rants & Rage-based Hateful Cursing Alienate World Opinion — and Lose Wars

Talkbacks by most pro-Israel and pro-Jewish commenters — Israeli Jews, Diaspora Jews and non-Jews alike — are rage-based, brainless taunts and curses that harm both Israel and Jews!!! Whether of not your rage is justified, venting it is counter-productive. Put down your keyboard and go kick a can.

Yet, I read endless schoolyard replies to trolls in every Jewish and Israeli forum. Such rants harm Israel’s image, molding a negative world opinion of Israel’s cause, in the dynamic ebb and flow of constantly changing, continuously being molded and re-molded, world opinion — where the war is fought, and won or lost, before the first shot is ever fired. This is the mysterious fighting force entirely a mystery to, and lacking among, Israelis and Jews: Living-room Warriors, Fighting On The Internet, Molding opinions of the world’s readers. And this army of cyberwarriors has consistently been an apathetic, otherwise absorbed in materialism, bling, texting, celeb-idolizing and selfies no-show!

Schoolyard taunting and expletive-laced rants communicate to the world a schoolyard mentality of hateful ranters. Duh! If that’s you, then you’re helping our enemies prove that Israelis and Jews are hateful and lack an intelligent basis for fighting pro-“Palestinian activists who are merely advocating for the religion of peace”!

When you post rants, rage and hate you motivate the world to join protests against obvious (“just look at their rants”) warlike haters of peace. “Gee, I guess they have been responsible for all the wars and bad stuff in the world?”

If you can’t bother to discipline yourself to think intelligently, and learn how to write effective posts, then at least lock up your keyboard somewhere and stop making our situation worse.

Cyberwarriors Initiative: are you on offense, feckless defense — or just oblivious?

Are you fighting terrorist sympathizers on your own turf or taking the war to them in the offending medias (e.g., CNN, BBC, European TV, France24, Chinese TV English, CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, al Jazeera English (!), Time Magazine, The Economist, WSJ, NYT, YouTube and the other supposedly neutral world public media, et al.)? Well, there’s your answer.

Have you bothered to collect and organize documentation and citations for an intelligent argument, or do you just rant, curse and commiserate? Well, there’s your answer.

How many hours do you spend every day fighting for Israel and Jews in the cyber arena where opinions of the world’s readers are formed, where the war is won or lost before it begins whatever the military results — a tiny sacrifice compared to our boys fighting and getting blown up 24/7 in the physical arena, and their grieving families, while you sip coffee in a café or worry about paying for a bigger TV — both before the first shot and during convenings of a Gladstone Commission or the ICC?

Address Lurkers, Ignore miso-Judaic and anti-Israel Trolls

I’ve taught this before: trolls (activists looking to argue and provoke rage-based rants) don’t change their minds. Not only are you wasting your time trying to convince a troll, time that should be productive elsewhere, you give the troll victory. One troll can keep a dozen cyberwarriors occupied, commiserating with each other fecklessly on their own turf (in their own Jewish and Israeli forums, like ynet); keeping them out of the cyberwar (CNN, BBC, et al). And you give them a platform just by acknowledging them. As long as they can keep replying, no matter how foolishly, they are keeping you and other cyberwarriors from effective and productive fighting (opinion molding).

The audience that you can influence, the audience that counts, are the unknown number of “lurkers” who read the CNN, BBC, et al. forums without ever commenting. The numbers are staggering, but you only see comments from a few — usually activists pushing their agenda. They will cross swords with you in a heartbeat. That’s what they’re there for. This is your war — yet you remain blissfully oblivious to it, not even showing up and haven’t bothered to learn how to fight effectively!

How can you have the khutzpah not to expect them to win world opinion when you don’t care about it, don’t learn how to fight and don’t even show up to fight?!? Shame on you while our sons are dying for you! Disgraceful!

To be effective in molding opinions, not only must you learn how to adopt the measures I’ve outlined above, and graduate to forums where opinions of the world’s readers are formed instead of whining among yourselves, you must, for each reply, dismiss the troll you’ve always simplistically replied to, and consider not what the troll (activist) is arguing but, rather, what are the lurkers thinking? Often, the trolls’ rants are so outrageous that it’s conspicuous to the lurkers that the troll is off the rails. In that case, you’d be wasting your typing efforts, and making yourself look like an enraged fool, arguing what everyone but the troll (and you) already realizes.

The opinions of the lurkers are the only ones whose minds may not yet be made up and closed, whose opinions may still be open and malleable to facts, evidence and logic; and, thus, the lurkers’ opinions are the only opinions that matter, NOT the opinion of the troll. Dismiss the troll and don’t give him or her a platform. Reply, generally, framing your message exclusively to make sense, appeal to and persuade the lurkers. The troll is irrelevant beyond providing you the excuse to convince the lurkers of something — calm, sober, pragmatic, intelligent, logical and documented (cited, i.e., links to sources) — in your agenda. If you can trigger rage-based, off the rails, rants from the trolls who badger you, then — for a long overdue change — you, Israel and Jews begin to win.

Today’s conflicts are decided in living-rooms, by cyberwarriors — you — effectively (!) molding opinions of the world’s readers. You, in your living room, study or office, are neglecting our sons who face death! Get off your duff and do your part in the fight!

Finally, if you really drive the troll around the bend, ballistic, so that (s)he flames you and curses you (instead of you ranting and cursing at the troll); blessed are you for you have defeated a troll and persuaded many lurkers. You have become an accomplished, elite Israeli Cyber Army warrior!
