Israel’s New Humanitarian Aid Plan in Gaza: A Game Changer

While much of the world focuses on criticizing Israel, few have taken the time to truly understand how dramatically the humanitarian aid system in Gaza has improved since the Israeli-led reforms began. Israel’s current food distribution plan is not only more efficient and secure than the previous one led by the United Nations, but it also prioritizes the needs of Gaza’s civilians, while ensuring that Hamas no longer exploits aid for its own power and profit.

Before October 7: Israel Was Already Providing for Gaza

Even before the horrors of October 7, 2023, Israel was allowing significant humanitarian aid into Gaza. On average, more than 800 aid trucks per week were entering the Gaza Strip via Israeli crossings. These trucks carried food, medicine, fuel, and other essential supplies. This was despite the fact that Gaza was under the control of Hamas, a terrorist organization that consistently threatened Israeli security and diverted aid meant for civilians.

Despite ongoing hostilities, Israel never stopped taking care of the civilian population in Gaza. The guiding principle of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has always been to distinguish between terrorists and non-combatants. That principle remains firmly in place even now, during one of the most complex and painful wars Israel has ever had to fight.

The Problem with the UN’s Old Plan

Under the previous system, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and other international organizations managed aid delivery. However, there was a serious flaw: Hamas frequently stole aid destined for the people of Gaza. They either used it to supply their own operatives or sold it at inflated prices on the black market, deepening the suffering of ordinary Gazans.

Rather than ensuring food reached children and families, the system empowered Hamas and extended their grip over the population. It became increasingly clear that humanitarian organizations—especially UNRWA, were either unable or unwilling to prevent this abuse. Some UNRWA staff were even exposed as having ties to Hamas, and many of their facilities were used for storing weapons and launching attacks.

A New System: Safe, Controlled, and Fair

Today, Israel, with support from international partners like the United States, has taken control of aid distribution and the results speak for themselves.

Israel has established a network of controlled aid centers across Gaza, ensuring that humanitarian supplies are distributed directly to civilians, not militants. These centers are protected by the IDF, and thorough monitoring systems help prevent aid from being stolen. The distribution is organized, secure, and, most importantly, transparent.

On the first day of operations, over 50,000 aid packages were successfully distributed. In the days since, hundreds of thousands of meals have reached Gazan families. Although there was initial chaos and confusion, with crowds breaching fences in desperation, the IDF quickly restored order, using non-lethal methods like warning shots in the air to disperse crowds and ensure safety.

Hamas: The Real Obstacle to Peace and Aid

Despite these positive developments, Hamas has done everything in its power to block the new system. They have set up roadblocks, threatened civilians with violence, and told them to stay away from Israeli distribution points under threat of death. Their goal is clear: to keep civilians dependent on Hamas-controlled areas, so they can maintain their grip on power.

Why does Hamas fear civilians going to Israeli aid centers? Because when people are no longer under their control, they begin to see the truth: Hamas does not care about their wellbeing, it only cares about power.

Israel’s strategy is as clear as it is morally justified: remove Hamas’s control, protect civilian lives, and bring the hostages home. Hamas’s ability to manipulate public opinion and use its own people as human shields has been one of its greatest tools. Now, with civilians increasingly seeing an alternative, that power is fading.

The Global Reaction: Misguided Criticism

Unfortunately, much of the international community, including NGOs who have become politically biased, refuse to accept this new system. Critics claim that requiring Gazans to move to safer areas for aid is “inhumane.” But what’s truly inhumane is allowing Hamas to keep stealing aid, using civilians as shields, and prolonging a war that could have ended long ago.

The truth is, Israel is doing what the international community failed to do for years: ensuring aid actually reaches those who need it. The distribution system now in place is not only better but fairer, safer, and smarter.

A Path Forward

Israel’s mission is not to harm civilians—it is to free them from the terror of Hamas. The sooner Hamas loses the support of the population, the sooner the war can end. Aid is not just about food; it’s about hope, independence, and breaking the chains of terror.

With every food package delivered to a mother or child in Gaza, Israel sends a message: we are not your enemy, Hamas is.

It is time the world recognized this effort not as a tactic of war, but as a step toward peace, recovery, and ultimately the return of every hostage, dead or alive.

CEO of Time to Stand Up for Israel, a nonprofit organization with a powerful mission: to support Israel and amplify its voice around the world. With over 200,000 followers across various social media platforms, our community is united by a shared love for Israel and a deep commitment to her future. My journey as an advocate for Israel began early. When I was 11 years old, my father was deployed to the Middle East through his work with UNTSO. I had the unique experience of living in both Syria and Israel, and from a young age, I witnessed firsthand the contrast in cultures and realities. That experience shaped me profoundly. Returning to the Netherlands, I quickly became aware of the growing wave of anti-Israel sentiment — and I knew I had to speak out. Ever since, I’ve been a fierce and unapologetic supporter of Israel. I’m not religious, but my belief is clear and unwavering: Israel has the right to exist, and Israel has the duty to defend herself. My passion is rooted in truth, love, and justice. I’m a true Zionist at heart. From my first breath to my last, I will stand up for Israel.
