Israel’s End Game
Three Israeli leaders will soon make a decision that will determine Israel’s end, be it peace or forever war. The opportunity to form an Arab-Jew unity government that now holds 67 of 120 seats in the Knesset is in clear line of sight. The question 3 men (Eisenkot, Bennett, and Lieberman) must answer is whether they wish to war, or to bring an end to it. The right-wing Zionist bloc stands for racism and conflict so it must be that peace can only emerge from a racial unity government.
Israeli Arabs could be trained to work with their Palestinian brethren to rebuild Gaza and a bi-racial Israeli-Palestinian force could keep the peace in the West Bank. Would such a government be a risk to Israel and could Israel descend into civil war? Yes, such are the stakes. The risk of dehumanization that grows with perpetual violence is absolute, so Israel must take its chances.
I have loved Israel for my whole life, before I knew it and since. I have advocated for and defended Israel. My final judgement hangs in the balance as I grasp at the last thread of hope. The promise of heaven (peace in the broadest sense) vs the dangers of hell (an abyss of oppression and algorithmic killing) is the junction at which we stand.
If we are all children of God, it must be that God wants us to live amongst one another in peace.
