Israel’s extreme right on its way out

A. Despair

Rational Israel is in despair about an alleged racist bully possibly becoming the minister of safety—in a short-lived, inept team. Despair for nothing.

1. Unclear if the Election Committee/High Court of Justice will accept him.

2. Hopelessness is endemic in Israel and has zero to do with what happens.

3. If he becomes Minister of Security and Police, he’ll get the Bibi treatment: He gets the portfolios he always wanted, he’ll accomplish nothing, and by the next elections, only his wife will vote for him.

B. Anti-Zionists

Anti-Zionists will yell again this shows Zionism is racism and colonialism.

1. They also did that under the previous left-center government.

2. And also when Netanyahu was PM, although he’s a moderate centrist.

3. Most of these ‘Allies of Palestinians’ don’t care about them, never fight for them to get human rights, and often speak from inside a dictatorship or an imperialist, racist country that murdered its aboriginals.

C. Anger

Anger against Muslims among Jewish Israelis is as understandable as that of women against men. For no reason at all, few proved to be our friends.

1. Yet, the Jewish antipathy or reaction is much more moderate than any other People would show. Most of us are fully against ethnic supremacy.

2. The leaders of our police, army, and security services are all woke lefties. In what country do we see this too? During war? No other.

3. As the visit by President Sadat showed, 45 years ago, as soon as a Muslim leader even half loves us, most of us open our arms widely.

In summary

Allegedly racist bullies will accomplish nothing, will not change how the world sees us, and are an Israeli protest voice only to disappear, just like Trump is on his way out, though he doesn’t know it yet.

There is every reason to be optimistic, to keep our sense of humor, to be wholeheartedly for Zionism, and to continue to believe in Jewish Israelis.

BTW: every time, the media must tell us when he’s lying. Like he says he wants tougher open-fire rules, but what he ‘wants’ is the rule already.

However, if you think those are his absolute top priorities, you might end up disappointed. His first loyalty is to the truth. He will try to stay within the limits of democratic and Jewish law, but he won't lie to support opinions or people when don't deserve that. This short list doesn't mean to disrespect others who taught him a lot or a little. One of his rabbis calls him Mr. Innovation [Ish haChidushim]. Yet, his originalities seem to root deeply in traditional Judaism, though they may grow in unexpected directions. In fact, he claims he's modernizing nothing. Rather, mainly basing himself on the basic Hebrew Torah text, he tries to rediscover classical Jewish thought almost lost in thousands of years of stifling Gentile domination and Jewish assimilation. (He pleads for a close reading of the Torah instead of going by rough assumptions of what it would probably mean and before fleeing to Commentaries.) This, in all aspects of life, but prominently in the areas of Free Will, Activism, Homosexuality for men, and Redemption. * He hopes that his words will inspire and inform, and disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed.
