J’Accuse! Kikar HaShabbat you ought to be ashamed!

Allow me to make it clear from the outset that this post is NOT about Haredim nor is it about Dati Leumi nor secular Jews. This post is aimed directly at a website called kikarhashabat.co.il, a website that services the Haredi community.

Thousands upon thousands of words were written about the prayer rally the other day held in Jerusalem. There were voices raised on BOTH sides as to the need for it; the chilul Hashem aspect and every opinion in between. The organizers made a point of calling it a “prayer rally” and not making it a political rally (whether that was the result is left to the observer). As a result of the rally websites posted video clips, opinion pieces and photographs.

Yet, there is one video and its accompanying music that has my blood boiling as I write these words. Kikar HaShabbat website posted a video with a song running in the background. While showing the rally participants readying themselves to participate, the words scroll across the screen (accompanied by music) that “אנו משכימים לדברי תורה” meaning that “we” awake in the morning (for Divrei Torah); then we see a clip of Benny Ganz and other IDF soldiers with the words “והם משכימים לדברים בטלים” (that “they” — the IDF) awake for vacuous reasons and time-wasting purpose.

The sinat Chinam; the lack of gratitude to the IDF; the despicable and gross presentation spits on the grave of every single soldier that has fallen defending this country.

KIKAR HASHABBAT — YOU OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELVES!

Perhaps open a Tanach and look at all of the times your fellow Jews went out to war to defend and safeguard this country. Look at our history of how we had NO ONE to protect us nor come to our defense when we were persecuted in EVERY century — until we received G-d’s gift of the Land of Israel, wherein you, the editors and webmasters of Kikar HaShabbat can do you work with no fear of attack because of the very people you impugn with this video!

The ONLY way to rectify this is to remove the video and issue a public apology for this gross affront and attack on those who are not like you.

Time for you to wake up!

(I will not defile this blog post with a link to the video. Feel free to Google it… if you can stomach the viewing)
