Javier Milein in a tour through Israel
A salute. A salute to freedom, a salute to honesty. That’s what Javier Milei did last week.
Who knows better than the Jewish people about getting vilified? They were accused of being rich and poor, uneducated and overeducated, communist and capitalist. They are a nation that dwells alone, a nation that is able to take every new accusation with dark humor. Because they know – good as they are, the gentiles always hate them. Always.
But sometimes, great man arise from the gentiles. Men that are willing to put out their own skin to protect the Jews, Men that are able to distinguish right from wrong. And last week, Javier Milei demonstrated that he is one of them. He showed he was a leader, not a populist. And Israel is ready to appreciate the few leaders that the worlds has got.
But besides lighting the torches, Milei did a few other things in his visit to the Israeli state. He went to the western wall. He gave speeches in Spanish. And he visited the Chebron Yeshivah, one of the leading Charedi institution.
How ironic, I thought to myself, that a non-Jew makes as his priorities to visit a Yeshivah on the few days he is in Israel while the Israeli Supreme Court leader still hasn’t step a foot inside? How much conflicts could have been avoided if Uzi Vogelman would sincerely try to understand Charedi values and appreciate them like Milei does? It’s not even about the claims, it’s about the communication. Wars have been fought because of misunderstandings. The confusion in Bays of Pigs in 1962 almost started a nuclear war. And neither side wants to fight, nor they want to inflict chaos and suffering on the country! Isn’t it a pity that we are in opposites sides?
