Jewish Cultural All-Nighter, May 23 at CIP São Paulo
On Saturday, May 23, 2026, the Congregação Israelita Paulista (CIP) will host another edition of “Ticun – Jewish Cultural All-Nighter”, in celebration of Shavuot, the festival that marks the giving of the Torah to the Jewish people during their journey through the desert after leaving Egypt.
With the theme “From Faith to Presence – Paths of Encounters and Transformation”, the event will take place at CIP headquarters starting at 5:00 PM, with free admission and programming open to the public. Inspired by the ancient tradition of staying awake on Shavuot night to study and reflect on the Torah—a practice known as Ticun—the Jewish Cultural All-Nighter offers a contemporary experience of spirituality, culture, art, dialogue, and human connection.
Held for nearly two decades, CIP’s Ticun annually brings together hundreds of people in a diverse program that spans different languages and generations. The 2026 edition will feature musical performances, dance, workshops, children’s activities, discussion circles, debates on spirituality, technology, identity, and coexistence, as well as collective reflection and sensory experiences.
Starting at 5:00 PM, the traditional Ticunzinho will be dedicated to children ages 3 to 10, with storytelling, educational activities, and the fifth edition of “Mastercheff haBicurim”, a culinary challenge inspired by Shavuot’s traditional foods.
Meanwhile, adults can join a Conversation Circle: “The Presence that Builds – Listening, Bonds, and Childhood Times”, with professors Luciana Klar, Roselea Becher, and Sylvania Kabiljo from @cafecomasprofas.
At 7:00 PM, the CIP Osher Choir will present the show “Faith in Life, Faith in Humanity, Faith in What is to Come”, conducted by Tania Travassos. Following that, at 7:30 PM, JCast: Preciso Saber will record a live international panel “Martin Buber: The Prophet of Encounter in an Era of Disconnection”, featuring Daniel Fainstein (Dean and Professor of Jewish Studies at Universidad Hebraica of Mexico), international relations specialist Karina Calandrin, and moderated by Rabbi Kelita Cohen.
The evening continues with dance performances by the Atid, Eretz, and Nefesh groups, presenting choreographies inspired by transformation, spirituality, and Israeli art. At 9:30 PM, the panel “When My Presence Conflicts with Your Faith” will bring together Alessandra Liberman and Marina Gelman, co-founders of the ECOA project, an initiative dedicated to combating antisemitism and hate speech in corporate environments.
At 10:30 PM, the musical program returns with the traditional Shirá beTsibur, a collective gathering of Jewish songs led by Adi Menashe, Avi Bursztein, Otavio (Tatá) Cukierman, and Pipo Grytz, accompanied by Alexandre Travassos and Tania Travassos.
From 11:00 PM onward, participants can join one of the scheduled workshops.
Closing the program, at 12:15 AM, Daniel Fainstein will deliver the keynote lecture “Artemis II: Technological Transformations and Faith”, addressing contemporary challenges posed by technological change and spiritual and human questions of our time.
Throughout the night, attendees can also take part in the “Memory Stories Station”, a space dedicated to sharing personal stories, family memories, and experiences related to contemporary Jewish life, strengthening the transmission of memory across generations (ledor vador).
The Jewish Cultural All-Nighter will also feature a food court with options such as falafel, sweet and savory pizzas, and chilled cakes.
The event is organized by the Congregação Israelita Paulista (CIP) and the Ministry of Culture, with sponsorship from Itaú, Bemol, Rosset, Banco Safra, Tricostyl, Smart Storage, and Aurora.
