Lexicon for Palestinian terrorists and their supporters about Jews and democracy

Misinterpretations keep them from abandoning their dreams of genocide

Here are seventeen ideas that might be alien to promoters of terrorism.

  • Lack of anger. Especially after losses, at funerals.

Your misunderstanding: Death weakens Jews, makes them cry, give up, and surrender. They’re not even angry at funerals.

Reality: Crying is a human way to reset expectations after a loss or disappointment. It helps to readjust to the new reality. And anger is an easy emotion that hinders the free use of our flexible intelligence.

  • Disagreements, shouting matches

Your misunderstanding: Their lack of unity weakens them.

Reality: Expressing these differences makes that they live by their true beliefs and not by expectations or forced-upon opinions. It’s democracy. You should try it. Under attack or when in serious danger, Jews always unite. Shouting matches mean they’re not too impressed by your threats.

  • They accept defeat by polls, votes, and ballots

Your misunderstanding: None of their leaders believe in their causes. A simple vote against them, and they give up. Never a shootout or takeover.

Reality: In a democracy, you must be a good sport. When you fail to win a majority, you must accept defeat. That doesn’t mean you were wrong or must give up. In the opposition, you can still have influence. And you can rethink and retry next time to see if you will manage to get more votes.

  • They jail their extremists

Your misunderstanding: They don’t believe in their causes when they bring their extremists to court. And they don’t even apply the death penalty.

Reality: The goal doesn’t justify all means. Crimes for a good cause and war crimes in a just war are still crimes. And Israel belongs to the enlightened Nations that reject easy capital punishment. Sinwar may qualify, though.

  • Clinging to one narrative

Your misunderstanding: Clinging to one narrative, even when damaging one’s honor or cause, shows a lack of creativity and pride.

Reality: Prioritizing truth makes them morally superior. Their egos are firm enough to survive reality checks. Reality helps them reach their objectives.

  • Democracies are weak

Your misunderstanding: Democracies in which the weak flourish are disgusting and feeble and can easily be defeated.

Reality: Democracies in which the weak flourish are not weak. They are morally superior, which gives endless strength. And yes, they are vulnerable to bullies and violence, but only in the short run.

  • They can’t do what they want

Your misunderstanding: They have courts that even tell the government what to do. So ridiculous.

Reality: Their courts are to prevent short-term political opportunism from winning from what is fair and just or from common sense. Even majorities can’t do whatever they want if that would violate equality or democracy.

  • Scared of death

Your misunderstanding: Jews are scared of death, which makes them cowardly, weak, and easy to defeat.

Reality: Jews run from death because they value life very much. The running is not from fear but to protect what is valuable. That is also why Israel pays a lot toward defense and protecting civilians. Israelis lack no courage to fight, as was shown on October 7, when 7,000 attackers didn’t manage to murder more than 1,200 Israelis. Israelis are principled. Your brainwashed suicide bombers happily die but are terrified of suffering.

  • Scared of war

Your misunderstanding: Israel agreed to Land for Peace because they are scared of wars and don’t care about the land.

Reality: They see peace as a great blessing because, even in a just war, many innocent people die, which they think is very sad. So great is peace that, with great pain, they’re willing to compromise on land issues. But, since they only got more terrorism for land, these deals are now dead.

  • We want all the colonialists out

Your misunderstanding: Jews have occupied and colonized our lands.

Reality: Jews don’t try to destroy archeological finds because they prove Jews are the natives. Your religious leaders and the Kur’an admit to that.

  • Jewish history is blood-soaked

Your misunderstanding: Jews have suffered much loss, and finally, the honor will be ours to be the ones to exterminate them.

Reality: That is what many Jew-haters thought over millennia. They were all wrong. Rather than only suffering a lot, Jews are also blessed. What would have knocked out other Nations, only strengthens Jewish resolve. Most foods get softer from cooking; eggs get harder. Jews are like eggs. When you align yourself with the Nazis, billions of people reject you.

  • Israel faces a worldwide uphill battle

Your misunderstanding: Our allies around the world are very powerful. This time, the odds are so much against the Jews—they will soon collapse.

Reality: The odds have always been against the Jews, and still, they always prevailed. Learn from history. You might collapse under such a fate; they won’t. The enemies of the Jews make a lot of noise, and so do those who are irritated or confused about them. Yet, their quiet allies are the world’s majority and are ethically more correct. Don’t underestimate a just party.

  • They fail to hate us

Your misunderstanding: No matter what we do to them, some, if not most of them, refuse to hate us. They have no honor and no principles. Israel is 20% Muslim. We could not stand living with 1% of us being Jews.

Reality: You hate Jews, but most Jews don’t hate Gentiles, not even violent ones. Most Israelis see everyone as human and are not preoccupied with ethnicity. They may pity you for your moral weakness. When you’d die for what you consider an honorable cause, they consider it a life lost to evil.

  • Jews are universally hated

Your misunderstanding: All people hate Jews, so our battle must be holy.

Reality: Jew-hatred is very old, widespread, and tenacious. But numbers don’t make it just. The elderly also aren’t always respected and protected. Yet, the elderly and Jews are still admired and loved by billions of people.

  • Jews are so nice

Your misunderstanding: It’s disgusting how nice Jews are. Helping us, fighting for us while we hate them. We have no respect for pushovers.

Reality: Most Jews are remarkably nice. That’s because they try to stand for morality. If you’re un-nice to God’s kids, how could you love Him?

  • Israel’s international Allies are abandoning it

Your misunderstanding: The international Allies of Israel are threatening and abandoning it constantly. Soon, Israel will stand alone.

Reality: Yes, the Allies get confused by the Anti-Zionist propaganda and lies. Yet, they will always have Israel’s back when it counts most.

  • All Jews are rich

Your misunderstanding: Israeli Jews are rich, White European colonialists.

Reality: Most Israeli Jews have Arab roots and are working class. Just like most of your people. Yet, due to equality, they all are important.

About the Author
MM is a prolific and creative writer and thinker, previously a daily blog contributor to the TOI. He often makes his readers laugh, mad, or assume he's nuts—close to perfect blogging. He's proud that his analytical short comments are removed both from left-wing and right-wing news sites. None of his content is generated by the new bore on the block, AI. * As a frontier thinker, he sees things many don't yet. He's half a prophet. Half. Let's not exaggerate. Or not at all because he doesn't claim G^d talks to him. He gives him good ideas—that's all. MM doesn't believe that people observe and think in a vacuum. He, therefore, wanted a broad bio that readers interested can track a bit what (lack of) backgrounds, experiences, and educations contribute to his visions. * This year, he will prioritize getting his unpublished books published rather than just blog posts. Next year, he hopes to focus on activism against human extinction. To find less-recent posts on a subject XXX among his over 2000 archived ones, go to the right-top corner of a Times of Israel page, click on the search icon and search "zuiden, XXX". One can find a second, wilder blog, to which one may subscribe too, here: https://mmvanzuiden.wordpress.com/ or by clicking on the globe icon next to his picture on top. * Like most of his readers, he believes in being friendly, respectful, and loyal. However, if you think those are his absolute top priorities, you might end up disappointed. His first loyalty is to the truth. He will try to stay within the limits of democratic and Jewish law, but he won't lie to support opinions or people when don't deserve that. (Yet, we all make honest mistakes, which is just fine and does not justify losing support.) He admits that he sometimes exaggerates to make a point, which could have him come across as nasty, while in actuality, he's quite a lovely person to interact with. He holds - how Dutch - that a strong opinion doesn't imply intolerance of other views. * Sometimes he's misunderstood because his wide and diverse field of vision seldomly fits any specialist's box. But that's exactly what some love about him. He has written a lot about Psychology (including Sexuality and Abuse), Medicine (including physical immortality), Science (including basic statistics), Politics (Israel, the US, and the Netherlands, Activism - more than leftwing or rightwing, he hopes to highlight reality), Oppression and Liberation (intersectionally, for young people, the elderly, non-Whites, women, workers, Jews, LGBTQIA+, foreigners and anyone else who's dehumanized or exploited), Integrity, Philosophy, Jews (Judaism, Zionism, Holocaust and Jewish Liberation), the Climate Crisis, Ecology and Veganism, Affairs from the news, or the Torah Portion of the Week, or new insights that suddenly befell him. * Chronologically, his most influential teachers are his parents, Nico (natan) van Zuiden and Betty (beisye) Nieweg, Wim Kan, Mozart, Harvey Jackins, Marshal Rosenberg, Reb Shlomo Carlebach, and, lehavdil bein chayim lechayim, Rabbi Dr. Natan Lopes Cardozo, Rav Zev Leff, and Rav Meir Lubin. This short list doesn't mean to disrespect others who taught him a lot or a little. One of his rabbis calls him Mr. Innovation [Ish haChidushim]. Yet, his originalities seem to root deeply in traditional Judaism, though they may grow in unexpected directions. In fact, he claims he's modernizing nothing. Rather, mainly basing himself on the basic Hebrew Torah text, he tries to rediscover classical Jewish thought almost lost in thousands of years of stifling Gentile domination and Jewish assimilation. (He pleads for a close reading of the Torah instead of going by rough assumptions of what it would probably mean and before fleeing to Commentaries.) This, in all aspects of life, but prominently in the areas of Free Will, Activism, Homosexuality for men, and Redemption. * He hopes that his words will inspire and inform, and disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed. He aims to bring a fresh perspective rather than harp on the obvious and familiar. When he can, he loves to write encyclopedic overviews. He doesn't expect his readers to agree. Rather, original minds should be disputed. In short, his main political positions are among others: anti-Trumpism, for Zionism, Intersectionality, non-violence, anti those who abuse democratic liberties, anti the fake ME peace process, for original-Orthodoxy, pro-Science, pro-Free Will, anti-blaming-the-victim, and for down-to-earth, classical optimism, and happiness. Read his blog on how he attempts to bridge any tensions between those ideas or fields. * He is a fetal survivor of the pharmaceutical industry (https://diethylstilbestrol.co.uk/studies/des-and-psychological-health/), born in 1953 to his parents who were Dutch-Jewish Holocaust survivors who met in the largest concentration camp in the Netherlands, Westerbork. He grew up a humble listener. It took him decades to become a speaker too, and decades more to admit to being a genius. But his humility was his to keep. And so was his honesty. Bullies and con artists almost instantaneously envy and hate him. He hopes to bring new things and not just preach to the choir. * He holds a BA in medicine (University of Amsterdam) – is half a doctor. He practices Re-evaluation Co-counseling since 1977, is not an official teacher anymore, and became a friendly, powerful therapist. He became a social activist, became religious, made Aliyah, and raised three wonderful kids. Previously, for decades, he was known to the Jerusalem Post readers as a frequent letter writer. For a couple of years, he was active in hasbara to the Dutch-speaking public. He wrote an unpublished tome about Jewish Free Will. He's a strict vegan since 2008. He's an Orthodox Jew but not a rabbi. * His writing has been made possible by an allowance for second-generation Holocaust survivors from the Netherlands. It has been his dream since he was 38 to try to make a difference by teaching through writing. He had three times 9-out-of-10 for Dutch at his high school finals but is spending his days communicating in English and Hebrew - how ironic. G-d must have a fine sense of humor. In case you wonder - yes, he is a bit dyslectic. If you're a native English speaker and wonder why you should read from people whose English is only their second language, consider the advantage of having an original peek outside of your cultural bubble. * To send any personal reaction to him, scroll to the top of the blog post and click Contact Me. * His newest books you may find here: https://www.amazon.com/s?i=stripbooks&rh=p_27%3AMoshe-Mordechai%2FMaurits+van+Zuiden&s=relevancerank&text=Moshe-Mordechai%2FMaurits+van+Zuiden&ref=dp_byline_sr_book_1
