Liberman Warned – Netanyahu Fled, and the Writing Was on the Wall
Liberman was there every step of the way. He warned, objected, and demanded a decision. And when he wasn’t willing to be part of the game, he resigned. Netanyahu paid the price, Hamas was strengthened, and the south continued to suffer.
As the CEO of the Prime Minister’s Office under Yitzhak Rabin, I witnessed firsthand what true leadership entails. Rabin was decisive, not hesitating when action was required. Whenever a threat emerged, he addressed it promptly.
In stark contrast, Netanyahu has made a method out of the policy of “containment.” For 15 years, he has avoided making crucial decisions, opting instead to purchase a façade of peace while neglecting the south. Now, he continues to evade responsibility.
Liberman was there every step of the way. He consistently warned, raised objections, and demanded decisive actions.
When it became clear that he could no longer support the direction things were headed, he chose to resign rather than be complicit in the ongoing issues.
2009: Demand for the eradication of Hamas’ rule – Netanyahu signs, then flees
In his first coalition agreement with Netanyahu, Liberman insisted on including a mandatory clause aimed at ending Hamas’s rule. Netanyahu agreed and signed the agreement but later disregarded it. As a result, Hamas’s position was strengthened, while Israel’s response remained insufficient.
2011: Release of Sinwar – the capitulation that led to the massacre
Liberman opposed the Shalit deal. He warned that releasing terrorists would lead to a deadly wave of terror. Netanyahu succumbed to pressure and released 1,027 terrorists, including Yahya Sinwar – the man who orchestrated the October 7 massacre.
2014: Liberman demanded a decisive move against Gaza – Netanyahu prevented it, then boasted about it
During “Protective Edge,” Liberman pushed for a full-scale military operation to conquer Gaza and eliminate Hamas. Netanyahu, however, was reluctant to take such decisive action. Instead of moving forward with a resolution, another ceasefire was implemented.
Years later, Netanyahu even claimed in his book that he was responsible for preventing the eradication of Hamas in Gaza. The ongoing consequences of this decision are evident today.
2016: The document that predicted October 7 – Netanyahu ignored it
As Minister of Defense, Liberman presented a classified document to the cabinet that accurately forecasted the events of October 7.
The document detailed scenarios of elite terrorist infiltration, massacres, and abductions—laying out a clear and present danger.
Despite the explicit warnings, Netanyahu chose to ignore them.
2018: Qatari money and resignation – Liberman was not willing to be part of the deceit
Netanyahu decided to transfer $15 million to Hamas in suitcases. Liberman, alerting in real-time, warned that this money was not for the welfare of the residents but rather for funding terror. Unwilling to be part of this neglect, he resigned.
“I couldn’t look the residents of the Gaza envelope in the eyes. All we did was buy short-term quiet at a heavy long-term price,” he stated.
Consequently, the suitcases were brought in, Hamas armed itself, and the missile attacks persisted.
Netanyahu paid, Hamas was strengthened, and the suffering in the south continued unchecked.
A week before October 7 – Liberman saw the disaster approaching, Netanyahu continued to flee
Days before the attack, Liberman was in Nir Oz, near the Gaza Strip. He met concerned residents and heard from them about the loss of deterrence against Hamas. He knew the fake quiet was about to end – he just didn’t know how terrible it would be.
At that time, Netanyahu was busy with other things. Instead of listening, instead of acting, he ran away again.
And now, as the catastrophe is here – he’s trying to run away from responsibility again. But the public is no longer buying it.
