Member of anti-hate commission suspended for hate
In The Washington Post article “Member of Md. hate-crime task force suspended for anti-Israel remarks” (11/23/23), let’s make one thing perfectly clear: calling the Jewish state “Nazis” is not “anti-Israel” as the article extolls, it is antisemitism. That the Post didn’t call it out as such displays the underpinnings of the Post’s systemic bias against Israel and Jews.
The perpetrator of this hate is Zainab Chaudry, “director of the Maryland chapter of the Council on Arab-Islamic Relations (CAIR)”. She was appropriately suspended for her comments from her position “as a member of Maryland’s Commission on Hate Crime Response and Prevention“ – of all things. She was suspended, as the Post described it “for posting messages on social media that harshly CRITICIZED [emphasis added] the actions of the Israeli government.” To the Post, it’s okay to downplay antisemitism as merely “criticism.”
According to the Post, Zainab “is one of 20 members of the commission, which the state’s top law-enforcement officials convened to combat escalating reports of hate crimes.” What irony! This occurred when anti-Jewish hate crimes are soaring throughout America especially on college campuses. Jews are taking down their Jewish markings outside their homes (mezuzahs) and hiding their Jewish star necklaces, wearing baseball caps instead of religious head coverings.
In her comparison of the one Jewish state to Nazis, Zainab “did not retract the sentiment” according to the Post. The post did admit that her rhetoric is a “juxtaposition widely seen as antisemitic.” Just not by the Post which repeatedly called it “criticism” or “anti-Israel”.
Holocaust inversion – comparing Israel to Nazis is part of the definition of antisemitism. Of course everyone knows (but perhaps Zainab) that the Nazis exterminated most of the Jews of Europe in heinous ways – 6 million of them. Arabs have killed other Arabs by the hundreds of thousands in Syria, Yemen, Sudan, and numerous other Arab nations while Zainab uttered not a word.
But when Hamas attacks Israel, slaughtering 1200 babies, toddlers, mothers, fathers, grandparents, Holocaust survivors, chopping off their limbs, raping, and taking hostage 240 – babies among the victims – Zainab gains a voice!
As any country must do, Israel responded to the Hamas attack by taking out the perpetrators of the barbarism, the murderers who hide behind Gazan civilians. And who does Zainab criticize? Israel! She actually has the nerve to blame Israel, and not Hamas for this whole tragedy. She must certainly harbor some ingrained hate to come to that conclusion. And that the Post sanitized her claims must raise additional eyebrows.
