Many disclaimers must be made before you can judge fairly
When Meretz and Labor were so stupid not to run on a joined list, and Bibi got a surprise majority chance, was he supposed to reject misogynists, racists, homophobes, and transphobes? I think so. But he thought to use them and contain their anti-equality stances. Turns out he can’t.
Peres and Netanyahu always try to shine internationally when their reign at home is a disaster. Yet, with true democracy at risk at home, it’s extra bizarre to see him fly to the greatest dictatorship on earth with an active genocidal policy and that huddles with international warmonger no. 1.
Netanyahu was not free to criticize the self-appointed crown prince Donald Trump. Though Bibi is a humanist with Jewish roots, he had no slack to question Trump’s abuse of minorities, women, etc. But now we should condemn him for jolly talks with his Chinese counterpart?
When democracies say they are Israel’s friends but criticize and pressure us as if not, can you blame it for seeking support from dictators? When he does so with Arab rulers, he’s for peace but with the Chinese he’s not? He is powerless. He can’t visit Taiwan and say he seeks peace between them.
Only for Antisemites, the situation is one-dimensional: Israel is wrong, always was, always is, and always will be.
