No Freedom Lives Without Moral Order

No Freedom Lives Without Moral Order-

Torah Portion Jethro

Without justice and law, there is chaos.

No freedom lives without moral order.

Every right, not respected, tramples

History’s life-journey through the ages.

Love thy neighbor as thyself, recognizes

There is no other; each is part of us.

Any harm afflicted is to ourselves,

Registered on the soul’s balance sheet.

Every thought, word and deed in life’s ledger,

The temperature of the human condition

Is measured by the thermometer of ethics

And the barometer of morality.

Given to us is our conscience from God,

The choice is ours, whether we silence its voice.
