No space for hate
Kinaah V’sinaah
Jealousy and hate.
They seem to relate.
In these radically changing times I refer to our parents’ voices , and to their life’s mission.
Yes, they were survivors of the Holocaust.
Our father escaped war torn Europe, and then entered Palestine .
He fought with his hands as a Golani Hagana Soldier sent to Southern Israel.
He helped Establish the State of Israel in 1948.
Our mother was so very young as she endured the ghetto, labor camps, 4 concentration camps, and the Death march.
She eventually escaped into Palestine from Hungary to Romania, to Turkey, and finally entered via the Atlit prison camp.
Our parent’s entire lives were upended because of hate .
Cruel and Evil hate.
They were orphaned by hate.
Yet, despite all that they built again.
They married with almost no money to their name, built a family, owned homes, including a property in Jerusalem.
They embraced hope and joy.
They knew exactly what hate could do.
They were industrious, warm, nurturing, and were pillars of every community they lived or worked in.
That ability to rise up again and again. To build, to succeed and excel, to strive for peace and greater things ; That is what they are all so jealous of.
So they turn to hate. Hate is the easy way . You can remain uninformed ,and use denial as a tool.
But hate…is a terrible waste of energy and resources.
The truth is ; There is no space for hate.
