‘Oceans’ by Hillsong with Jewish Interpretation
“Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” is a famous song by Australian worship group Hillsong United. It was released on August 23, 2013 as the final single of their “Zion” album. The lead singer is Taya Smith Gaukrodger.
For the world Jewish community, I have re-written and re-adapted this song for Jewish communities as–“Oceans (For Jewish Souls)”.
I encourage Jewish synagogues around the world to perform this new Jewish song. Moreover, I ask the following Jewish singers to perform this new spiritual song: Yaakov Shwekey, Avraham Fried, Benny Friedman, 8th Day, Mordechai ben David, Shiri Maimon, Yehudit Ravitz, Aviv Geffen, Mendy Werdyger, Miami Boys Choir, Neshoma Carlebach, Rabbi Shefa Gold, and Lipa Schmeltzer.
OCEANS (FOR JEWISH SOULS)
You call me into the Mikveh waters The holy waters, where my soul is blessed And I feel God in the holy waters Like oceans deep, my faith in Torah stands
And I will call HaShem by His name And keep my eyes above the waves My soul longs for God’s embrace For I am Yours and You are mine
Your holy light enlightens every bris With love of Torah, like a Jewish mother’s holy kiss Our feet are made strong and God’s love surrounds You have never failed, and You won’t start now
So, Israel will call upon God’s name And keep our eyes upon God’s praise When the Holy Spirit rises, our souls will embrace For I am Yours and You are mine
Hashem leads me where my faith is without borders Bring my holy life in order whenever You would call me Take me deeper than my soul could ever wander And my faith will be made stronger in the presence of my God
Israel will call upon God’s name Like Moses we will give God all praise Our Jewish souls rest in Your embrace For I am Yours and You are mine
THE END
