President Biden’s Missing Commencement Speech
My fellow Americans, the cliché “You’re entitled to your own opinion but not to your own facts” has never been truer than it is on our college campuses today. The well organized and funded anti-America, anti-Israel and anti-Semitic chants echoing off the walls of our universities must be countered with the force of truth, bolstered with facts, and that force starts at the top.
It is long past due that we as a nation, not only add potency to our condemnation of violence on campus, but with vigor denounce the lies as well. Politicians and college administrators uttering mealy mouthed bromides such as, “Free speech is fine, but not hate speech” and “expressions of anti-Semitism and Islamophobia cannot be tolerated” are nice, but nobody is listening. What is missing are clear-cut statements of facts, which are: Israel is not an apartheid state, Israel is not committing genocide, and Israel is not an occupying settler-state.
If Israel were an apartheid state Muslim Arabs would not sit on Israel’s Supreme Court, be medical practitioners and administrators at their hospitals, appointed as professors and heads of academic departments at universities, and have an Arab political party participating in forming the government. If Israel were committing genocide the Arab population would have decreased since 1948, not increased exponentially since then. And if Israel were an occupying settler-state, it would not have left Gaza in 2005 and permitted non-Israelis to live in the disputed territories of Judaea and Samaria, which have a continued Jewish presence for 3,500 years, some 1,500 before the creation of Islam.
Whether the shouting mobs choose to believe those facts or not, they need to hear them. The misinformed, the uninformed, and the irredeemable anti-Semites have been indoctrinated with canards and hate-filled tropes about Jews, Israelis, Zionists and Americans. Shouts of “Put Jews in Ovens, “Go Back to Poland,” “Intifada,” “From the River to the Sea Palestine Will Be Free,” are not calls for freedom, they are calls for the extermination of the State of Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East and the sole Jewish state in the world. Those abhorrent shouts, when accompanied with displays of Swastikas, and Nazi inspired cartoon characterizations of ugly and evil Jews are humorous only to those who deserve the label of miscreants.
Defacing America’s symbols with the flags of Hamas and Hezbollah, both U.S. designated terrorist organizations, is as offensive as it is un-American. And for those of you who support Hamas terrorists, whose depraved atrocities against Israel’s civilian population was barbaric as is their use of civilians and hostages as human shields, need to have your moral compass recalibrated. And those of you who have the audacity to champion those who proudly proclaim their genocidal intention against the Jews, well you are beneath contempt.
And for those of you who choose to ignore the facts, because they do not agree with your misguided notions of the current situation, reveals a form of close-mindedness that does not belong in a university. Those of you who take to the campus quads in righteous indignation for the “cause’ know this – your cause is born of bigotry, and hatred, fueled by those who would rather tear down our institutions than build them up, and for those of you who strive for mediocrity rather than the pursuit of excellence, shame on you. I am not done. And for those of you who disparage our friends and allies while giving succor and support to our country’s avowed enemies, you are traitorous. Finally, as Americans will not permit you to glorify and venerate the criminal and barbaric atrocities of Hamas terrorists, thus staining the quads, pathways, and lecture halls of our educational institutions, with the blood of the innocent.
