Protest Song: Who is a Jew beyond Netanyahu?
As a citizen of Israel, I love Israeli rock bands such as Mashinah and Ha-Yehudim. I also love Israeli singers such as Omer Adam, Eyal Golan, Anna Zak, Aviv Geffen, and Ishay Ribo.
The other day I was watching the music video for the rock song “Masterpiece” by the American band “Motionless in White” when I was suddenly inspired to write this protest song about Israel and Jewish identity.
I feel inspired by the great peace activists and songwriters Bob Dylan and John Lennon. Hopefully, this protest song will be recorded and performed by a contemporary artist.
The song is titled: “Who is a Jew beyond Netanyahu?:
All the Palestinian and Israeli war games
Left a shattered picture frame
Like Netanyahu, I lead this land
If we can’t have Israel then no one can
Pain and wars what this land inflicts Burn that bridge when we get to it As we serve Israel like a military gun We imprisoned Ahed Tamimi with a twisted tongue
So, must Israel apologize and put the tears in Palestinian eyes
When every drawing that we paint contains the blood made of our mistakes?
Is there Jewish guilt? My crying eyes just stare
In Jerusalem, Palestinian joy is rare
As Israel modernizes its military ways
Innocent blood can’t escape the wars of fate
So must Israel apologize, and put the tears back in Palestinian eyes
When every drawing that we paint contains the blood made of our mistakes?
So must Netanyahu apologize for the Palestinian mother who cries
When every drawing that Israel paints contains the blood of our mistakes?
And in the light Arafat’s demise, we see the failure of peace in your eyes
Every drawing that Israel paints contains the blood made of our mistakes
From Netanyahu to Miri Regev From Northern Israel to the Negev From freedom fighters locked in prison cells Strive for peace and freedom in Israel
