Reflections from Jerusalem in poetry and prose

Jerusalem Street Orchestra (Sonnet)) – rooftop Festival – June 13th, 2022

Under the open Jerusalem sky,
The audience sat in rapture, enchanted
By the music of Paris, transported
across treed ages in Jerusalem’s breezes,

Debussy’s, Ravel’s and Faure’s musical scores
Played across the millennia of history
To layers and layers of background scenes,
Where prophets, kings and conquerors had roamed.

The magic of l’heure bleu of Claude Monet
Paintings, suddenly drew new impressionism
As it enveloped the wide horizon
Against the Holy Sites of the City.

The flutes, violins, cellos and orchestra
Played as the pianist danced across the keys.
