Remembering AMIA Bombing

July 18th was the anniversary of the AMIA (Argentine Israelite Mutual Association) bombing that occurred in 1994 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It was a suicide bombing committed by a terror group, Hezbollah, one of the proxies of Iran and the Islamic Republic itself. This was one of the most fatal terror attacks, with a death of 85 and over 300 casualties.

This bombing is also known as one of the most fatal terror attacks in Argentinian history. Argentina held the second largest Jewish population, 200,000 outside Israel. This must have been a devastating terror attack for the victims and their families. I pay sincere condolences to the deceased and the casualties of the terror attack marking the day.

For the terror attack, 275 kg of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, an oxidizer, was used. Ammonium nitrate fertilizer is used in fireworks, fertilizers, rocket engines, explosives, and so forth. The substance reacts to confinement or high heat and is euthermic by nature. The ammonium nitrate fertilizer was used with an oil explosive mixture. The AMIM Bombing was one of the deadliest terror attacks in Argentinian history.

Pope Francis, then Catholic Church Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, signed a petition as the first public personality in 2013. Pope Francis was one of the signatories of “85 Victims, 85 Signatures,” a document to celebrate the 11th anniversary.

As my memory, I remember the incident as a student, even though it was decades ago. As far as I remember, Israel has been required to hold military capabilities as long as it has been existing.

Islamic Republic regime has been attempting and committing attacks against Israel. In 2024, finally, the Argentinian Court ruled that the Islamic Republic and Hezbollah, the proxy of Iran in Lebanon, committed the AMIM bombing. President Milei vows to prosecute the convicts of this horrible terror attack.

Jewish communities and people have been targeted after October 7th. Hezbollah has been firing rockets against Israel, and over 50,000 people have been displaced or required to flee their homes. The Iranian proxy, Hezbollah, ultimately, the Islamic Republic, is trying to eradicate the nation Israel.

Ayatollah Khamenei had been posting various posts on X, and I could not help but feel some cynicism over his nonsensical posts. However, in reality, Israel is exposed to threats by Hamas rocket attacks from the south and Hezbollah rocket attacks from the north.

Khamenei posted several posts with full intent to become the doomsayer of the future of Israel and promote Antisemitic violence and assaults on Jewish students and civilians in the West and the U.S. There have been Antisemitic crimes skyrocketing in the U.S. and the West after October 7th. Ayatollah Khamenei believes he is succeeding. However, Israel is not going anywhere. It exists between “the river and the sea.” Israeli people or Zionists will not cease to exist.

At this moment, though, Israeli people are going through a tough time. I pay condolences to the victims of AMIA bombings back in 1994 and all the Israeli terror victims by radical Islamists. I genuinely hope that there will be peace for Israel and the Israeli people after the war and in the entire Middle East.
