So where can Jews and Israelis go on vacation now?
For many Jews and Israelis today, the world feels like it’s getting scarier and smaller.
Indeed, according to a recent survey, 76% of Jewish Israelis say their travel plans this summer have been impacted by antisemitic or anti-Israel incidents abroad.
There isn’t a single parent that hasn’t worried about where their children are travelling to and unfortunately how best to hide their Jewish identity.
So where is it safe for our families to go on vacation? And is the answer for those lucky enough to afford it – to even purchase a second home here in Israel?
Let me give you a few clues:
You can ski there in the winter.
You can go on beautiful water tiyulim in the summer.
And for the chagim, it’s the place to spend with your family.
Under two and half hours travel for most Israelis you find yourself in our own oasis, our own riviera.
It’s the Golan.
Maybe it’s time for us to stop complaining about where we can’t travel, and start appreciating where we can.
It’s time to think of our beautiful Golan as our vacation home.
