Who’s good to the bad ends up being bad to the good

For so many years, I wondered how, after the Apartheid era, South Africa could build a new society without bringing judgment to the Apartheid mass murderers. The State made a deal. You tell us whom you murdered and where the bodies are, and we forgive you. How could that work?

The turn-other-cheek philosophy is so prominently preached by fundamentalist Christians but so seldom practiced.

South African society became unsafe, with armed robberies everywhere. That seemed all the damage.

But, then emerged the Jew-hatred, for a century, imported by Africa’s missionaries. The mildness shown to the White supremacists was not afforded to Israeli Jews who did not hurt them. And if any Whites fought Apartheid, those were Jews. They became their unforgivable brutes.

When you brush rage under the carpet, it will resurface. And when the rage is about having been victimized, your rage will make others victim.

NB: Some people say you cannot know what’s in a person’s heart, so you can’t know who’s an Antisemite. Well, no need to judge anyone’s heart. Antisemitism is not an opinion or a sentiment. It’s a lie. When someone speaks untruths against the Jews, that is the definition of Antisemitism.

The Jewish Sages tell us undeserved niceness doesn’t work. When you’re too nice to the monsters, you will end up being a monster to the too nice.

It’s yet another sad confirmation of an older truth.

A totally different case is the reunion of the survivors of the Battle at Normandy. Both Allied and Nazi veterans united to commemorate, mourn, and honor the fallen. I could understand when all say: here fell working-class men killing and getting killed for the interests of the super-rich. But the Allied soldiers and their families were idealists, fighting hatred, and the Nazi soldiers were not. That false moral equivalence is still puzzling me.

Yet, his originalities seem to root deeply in traditional Judaism, though they may grow in unexpected directions. In fact, he claims he's modernizing nothing. Rather, mainly basing himself on the basic Hebrew Torah text, he tries to rediscover classical Jewish thought almost lost in thousands of years of stifling Gentile domination and Jewish assimilation.
