Standing with the Lions of Iran
Right now, as we speak, the streets of Iran are alive with ordinary people who’ve had enough. In cities like Tehran, Marvdasht, and Lordegan, brave individuals are risking everything to stand up to a regime that has oppressed them for too long. This isn’t just a single protest or one isolated incident; it’s a wave of defiance sweeping across the nation. And yes, we’re hearing reports—some confirmed, some still unfolding—of protesters facing deadly force from security services.
A couple of years ago, I had a tenant from Iran. He was a renowned surgeon who resettled here in the US with his family. As time passed, we witnessed the tragedy of October 7, the worst catastrophe for Jews since the Holocaust. It was a profoundly painful moment, and we are still reeling from it globally.
In those conversations, my former tenant and I often discussed how he was staunchly opposed to extremism, having lived under it. We stayed in touch, and now, as his country fights for its freedom, the bravery of the Iranian people is undeniable. They are risking their lives to stand up to a tyrannical regime that oppresses them and threatens the free world.
Yet, where is the outcry? Where are the global defenders of justice? Where are the people of Hollywood who always champion human rights? Where are the European countries that claim to stand with the Iranian people but do nothing to change this geopolitical mess? The silence is deafening. My friend sends me videos from the streets of Iran, showing civilians being shot simply for demanding a better future. If that doesn’t move us, what will?
We know this feeling all too well. Jews around the world understand what it means to feel abandoned by the international community. We know the cost of being left to face evil alone. And that’s why we have a moral obligation to stand up for the people of Iran. They could be our potential allies in a new Middle East. Supporting those who fight for freedom is how we begin to change the region for the better.
We have a moral obligation to support a nation’s fight for freedom. We have no excuses. We know what is happening. It’s time to stand up and show the Iranian people they are not alone. They deserve our support and solidarity. Let’s raise our voices and say it clearly: free Iran from the Islamic regime. #FreeIran
