Star Wars is a epic space-opera and media franchise created by American director, George Lucas. The first film was created in 1977 and introduced popular characters such as Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Han Solo, Chewbacca, and Yoda. Star Wars is one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time with a total value of US $65 billion.
The Star Wars franchise is hugely popular in Israel and in the Jewish diaspora. Millions of Jewish people view the films and purchase the merchandise.
In honor of the new film, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019), I have created this new Star Wars story based upon Judaism, Jewish history, and Jewish values:
A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away there lived a leader named Rabbi Jacob Skywalker. He lived on the “planet Israel” with his wife, Rebbetzin Sarah Skywalker, and his children Abraham, Joseph, and Rachel.
Rabbi Jacob Skywalker is part of an ancient Hebrew organization known as the “Hebrew Jedi Order” with the word “Jedi” based on the Hebrew “Yeda” which means both higher knowledge and spiritual insight.
The Hebrew Jedi study in ancient Jedi academies such as Ponevizh Yeshiva in B’nai Brak, Israel or the Lakewood Yeshiva in Lakewood, New Jersey. The first Hebrew Jedi, was a Hasidic Jewish rabbi known as the Baal Shem Tov, who mastered the “Force” which is known in Hebrew as “Koach”;to bring peace and order to the universe under the authority of the Almighty God of Israel.
The Hebrew Jedi moral value system involves a battle between the evil inclination (yetzer ha-rah) and the good inclination (yetzer ha-tov). The Hebrew Jedi use the “Force” to ensure the triumph of the good inclination throughout all galaxies and all worlds.
Rabbi Jacob Skywalker, who is a descendant of the Alte Rebbe Schneur Zalman of Liadi, promotes charity (tzedakah) and holiness (kedushah) among all Hebrew Jedi. During his youth, Rabbi Skywalker was personally trained by Grand Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson who is known as the “Rebbe”.
The traditional weapons of the Hebrew Jedi are the lightsaber, a device that generates a sharp, laser-like blade of light and also the nuclear-powered star of David which is thrown like a boomerang or Ninja star. The symbol of the Hebrew Jedi is a large golden “Menorah” which is lit every Friday night on “Shabbat”.
The greatest enemy of the Hebrew Jedi is known as the “Amalek Empire” which is led by the anti-Semitic Sith lord, “Darth Pisher” who seeks to control the universe using the power of evil. Years ago, “Darth Pisher” had been a Hebrew Jedi who defected to the “dark side” after coming under the influence of the “Dark Side Sefer”; an ancient book of evil power.
“We must find Rabbi Jacob Skywalker and his family,” Darth Pisher says to his subordinates in the Amalek Empire.
“Our deep space trackers have located Rabbi Skywalker on the ‘planet Israel’ in the Torah galaxy,” replies Kylo Nudnick, the faithful assistant to Darth Pisher.
Taking a small spacecraft, Darth Pisher travels through space to planet Israel to capture Rabbi Skywalker and his family. He takes only his red lightsaber as a weapon. The lightsaber is red because it represents the “power of Esau” who was red.
Rabbi Jacob Skywalker, using Kabbalah, senses the presence of the evil Darth Pisher nearby. Grabbing his lightsaber and star of David, Skywalker walks across the Negev desert to confront Darth Pisher.
Upon seeing Skywalker, Darth Pisher cries out, “I will convert you to the Dark Side or I will destroy you. You must join the Amalek Empire. I am all of the evil Sith combined.”
“With the power of the Almighty God of Israel, the Hebrew Jedi stand against you. For I am all of the Hebrew Jedi combined,” replies Rabbi Skywalker.
Darth Pisher swings his lightsaber towards Rabbi Jacob Skywalker, but Skywalker’s lightsaber is too strong. The blade of Darth Pisher’s lightsaber shatters into pieces. The power of Torah is too strong for the Dark Side.
With his lightsaber broken, Darth Pisher escapes back to his spaceship and leaves the region.
“The God of Israel is too strong for the Dark Side. I will never again challenge the Hebrew Jedi,” Darth Pisher says in a loud voice.
Rabbi Jacob Skywalker returns to his family in time for Shabbat dinner. The Hebrew Jedi are victorious, powerful, spiritual, and faithful to the God of Israel and the power of Torah.
By observing the 613 Mitzvot or divine commandments and studying Torah, the Hebrew Jedi Order bring truth, power, justice, mercy, and holiness to the entire universe. The God of Israel is the only true power!
“May the Force be with you.”
