In the US, most people are allowed to bear guns. But when they kill someone, they go to jail–at best. Anyone who physically hurts someone will have a problem with the law. When you target people from an oppressed group, your offense is raised to a hate crime.
In the US, there is freedom of speech. But when you character assassinate people or whole segments of the population, nothing happens. Anyone who emotionally hurts someone or whole segments of the population needs to get a problem with the law.
And if it changes in the US, that will have a ripple effect all over the world.
So if you enlarge hatred, you should expect prosecution.
If you call women or non-Whites second class, you should face a judge.
If you make Jews or children live in greater fear, you should have your day in court.
Also in privacy; also in a pub. Also on social media, also on TV.
When objectors against such laws say: that’s mind police, the reply is: No, it isn’t. You’re free to think and speak. But abuse will be punished. Because that’s the kind of society we want to live in: where hatred is banned, hurtful stereotypes and blood libels are opposed and where people will bear responsibility for hurt they cause.
You should simply pay for saying that women are known to be more stupid, weaker, that Blacks are known to be more primitive and lawless, that Jews and Israel are known for controlling our lives, that Muslims are known to be more violent, that children who don’t obey are no good, etc.
