A Wake-Up Call to the Hypocritical West

Since the devastating Hamas attack of October 7th, 2023, the world’s moral compass seems to have spun out of control. Instead of standing shoulder to shoulder with the only democracy in the Middle East, a modern, lawful, progressive, and pluralistic nation, the West is fixated on pointing fingers at Israel. From parliaments in Europe to universities in the U.S., everyone suddenly claims the right to interfere in Israeli politics, as if they understand the intricacies of a conflict they’ve neither lived nor studied deeply.

This meddling is not just ignorant. It is dangerous.

A Prosperous, Lawful Nation Under Siege

Israel is not some rogue state that needs “guidance” from powers thousands of kilometers away. It is a country built on democratic values, home to free elections, an independent judiciary, a robust media, and protected minorities including Arabs, Druze, Christians, Bedouins, and LGBTQ+ individuals. In fact, Israel’s Arab citizens sit in the Knesset, serve as judges, and run hospitals. What other Middle Eastern nation can say the same?

Yet instead of being respected as the sovereign democracy that it is, Israel is treated like a misbehaving child by much of the West; lectured, threatened with boycotts, punished with sanctions, and vilified in international forums.

All while Hamas, a recognized terror group, continues to hold hostages, fire rockets from civilian areas, and rob humanitarian aid meant for the people of Gaza.

Rewarding Terror, Punishing Democracy

When Western governments recognize “Palestine” as a state without demanding the disarmament of Hamas or the return of Israeli hostages, they are not promoting peace, they are rewarding terror. This emboldens Hamas, weakens the Palestinian Authority, and sends a crystal-clear message: violence pays.

Israel has faced decades of terror, wars, and delegitimization efforts, all while making repeated (and painful) peace offers. Each time, those offers have been met with more terror. But now, instead of calling on Hamas to lay down its weapons, the international community accuses Israel of committing genocide, even though the population of Gaza has grown, not declined, since the war began.

The Myth of Famine and Genocide

Much of the Western world has swallowed, without fact-checking, the propaganda that Israel is starving Gaza. In truth, Israel has continued to coordinate and facilitate the entry of aid: medicine, fuel, food, into Gaza. The real problem? Hamas frequently seizes those aid trucks, hoards supplies, and sells them for profit.

Israel is fighting an enemy that hides in schools, mosques, hospitals, and UN buildings. Hamas uses civilians as human shields, and then blames Israel for the civilian deaths it orchestrated. And the world plays along.

Where is the outrage at that? Where are the sanctions against terrorists, rather than against democrats.

Understand the Culture Before You Judge

Most of the people making loud declarations against Israel have never lived a day under rocket fire. They have not studied Middle Eastern culture, the role of honor and shame, or the influence of radical interpretations of Islam in the region. They don’t understand the Arabic tribal mentality, the internal divisions between Gazans and West Bankers, or the power structures that prop up Hamas.

If you do not understand this region’s complexity, educate yourself. Seek out non-biased, academic, and historical sources. Read voices from both sides. And if you’re unwilling to do so, then kindly: Do. Not. Interfere.

Double Standards Are the Real Scandal

Let’s talk about hypocrisy.

China occupies Tibet and is committing well-documented human rights abuses against Uyghur Muslims.

Morocco annexed Western Sahara.

Turkey occupies Northern Cyprus.

Russia invaded Ukraine.

Sudan, Ethiopia, Yemen, and dozens of others have engaged in internal or cross-border violence.

Yet none of these nations are subject to BDS (Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions) campaigns on the scale Israel faces.

Why?

Because there are no Jews involved.

The ugly truth is this: when Jews defend themselves, it triggers outrage. When Jews are attacked, the world is silent. When Jews build a homeland, the world says “not like that.” When Jews become strong, suddenly it’s a “problem.”

Israel’s Contributions Ignored Until Convenient

Strangely, no one is boycotting Israeli inventions. Western tech companies, governments, and militaries are all too happy to use Israeli cybersecurity, medical breakthroughs, water purification systems, AI technologies, and life-saving devices. The boycotts are conveniently limited to food, wine, music, and art. This selective outrage exposes what it really is, not activism, but prejudice wearing a human rights mask.

A Final Word

Israel is not perfect. No nation is. But it remains the only country in the Middle East where both Jews and Arabs can vote, criticize the government, and live under the protection of law. It is also the only country in the region that still hopes for peace even when the world aligns itself with those who openly seek its destruction.

So to the West, to the critics, to the so-called “progressives”:
You don’t get to dictate Israeli policy unless you’re also willing to face rockets, tunnels, kidnappings, and existential threats.

Until then, stop pretending your ignorance is virtue.
Educate yourself or stay silent.

About the Author
CEO of Time to Stand Up for Israel, a nonprofit organization with a powerful mission: to support Israel and amplify its voice around the world. With over 200,000 followers across various social media platforms, our community is united by a shared love for Israel and a deep commitment to her future. My journey as an advocate for Israel began early. When I was 11 years old, my father was deployed to the Middle East through his work with UNTSO. I had the unique experience of living in both Syria and Israel, and from a young age, I witnessed firsthand the contrast in cultures and realities. That experience shaped me profoundly. Returning to the Netherlands, I quickly became aware of the growing wave of anti-Israel sentiment — and I knew I had to speak out. Ever since, I’ve been a fierce and unapologetic supporter of Israel. I’m not religious, but my belief is clear and unwavering: Israel has the right to exist, and Israel has the duty to defend herself. My passion is rooted in truth, love, and justice. I’m a true Zionist at heart. From my first breath to my last, I will stand up for Israel.
