Summer in Jerusalem
The Nameless One has very recently given a first-hand account of Jerusalem in today’s climate (literally). He reveals, “So far, the summer has been fantastic—not too hot, at least not in Jerusalem—and we are already entering the beautiful month of Elul, the month before Rosh Hashanah and the High Holidays, a month of Teshuvah (repentance) and spiritual preparation for the High Holidays.”
Israelis are passing through the roads, in shops and out of shops, playing music and listening to music, going to work, whilst gathering the items the high holidays call for amidst a celebration of heritage.
The Nameless One says, “You can feel the Israeli autumn in the air. It is an unstable season, with a great breeze and extra humidity, even in Jerusalem. White flowers, grapes, and ants working extra hard are seen in the parks and nature reserves. Tiny red fruits are ripening on different trees, ready for the migrating birds to eat —simply beautiful. Jerusalem during August is the kingdom of children, with so many activities, cultural events, and festivals.”
But the war could spark up again at any time. As my friend concedes, “Beneath this deceptively peaceful summer, however, the region is not truly at rest.”
He explains, “Since the war with Iran ended around April, we have entered what is called in Israel ‘the cucumber season.’ I think that in English it is called the ‘silly season.’ There is no important news. No one wants important things to happen before the election. The situation has simply been artificially frozen. Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and Iran—as well as Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Turkey—can all wait until the Israelis finish their election and the Americans get through the midterms. If only all these Middle Eastern nations, run by 50 shades of dictatorship, were cooperating with our celebration of democracy. I mean, what could possibly go wrong? Surely, they wouldn’t dare to exploit such a moment of weakness in our systems. They couldn’t possibly be that bad.”
He has also determined that the balance doesn’t seem to be tipping any time soon. “Possibly,” he says, “the Middle East will surprise us and force some uncomfortable situation during the elections, or alternatively, everyone will use the extra breathing room to prepare for the next round.
“As Ezekiel 38:4 says about this war, so I believe: ‘I will turn you around, put hooks in your jaws, and bring you out with your whole army.’
“God will force the enemies of Israel to go out to war so they can be defeated.
“For anyone trying to make sense of the current regional picture, here is my short assessment:
“Gaza – Hamas is preparing another attack and planning to kidnap Israeli soldiers, although it is supposed to disarm. Who is going to disarm it? Total joke.
“West Bank – They are preparing for their elections for the Palestinian parliament in November. The last elections were held in 2006. You probably hear about ‘settler violence against poor Palestinians.’ Well, that’s a massive, gigantic smear campaign against the Jewish settlers in Judea and Samaria in order to keep the ‘two-state solution’ alive. There are so many actors, so much money, and so many lies involved in this campaign that I’ll have to dedicate a separate message to it.
“Lebanon – Just like on the other fronts, without a full IDF occupation of southern Lebanon in order to remove the threat to Israel and the Galilee, I can’t see how this ends. Also, just like in Gaza, Israel should demand that any settlement include compensation for the war the jihadists forced upon us. The main way to inflict this pain on the jihadists who attacked us is by taking territory from them permanently.
“Syria – Another massacre of the Druze seems to be a matter of time. There is no reason to expect anything different from an ISIS member who became the president of Syria and is backed by the strongest Muslim Brotherhood country—Turkey.
“Iran – Go back to Ezekiel 38:4.
“The eighth front is the diaspora – Since the third week of this war, back in October 2023, I have mentioned that my main concern is regarding Diaspora Jews. There is a countdown to the return of all Jews to Israel. Last Shabbat, we casually read about the plans God has for our return: ‘When the Lord your God has destroyed the nations whose land He is giving you, and when you have driven them out and settled in their towns and houses, then set aside for yourselves three cities in the land the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’
(Deuteronomy 19:1–2).”
He adds, “You should also read Deuteronomy 30:3–5: ‘Then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where He scattered you. Even if you have been banished to the most distant land under the heavens, from there the Lord your God will gather you and bring you back. He will bring you to the land that belonged to your ancestors, and you will take possession of it. He will make you more prosperous and numerous than your ancestors.’
“The global intifada front,” the Nameless One finalizes… “I think I can confidently assess that the global intifada—not just against the Jews—has started. The endless violence coming from Muslims against the populations of the host countries, and the level of violence involved, look to me, as a person who has lived through two intifadas and countless terror attacks, mini-wars, and military operations, like an intifada against Western countries. All this is happening while Western societies are being gaslit out of existence—this is the exact playbook of Islamic warfare. Israel has all the tips and know-how in this field.”
