The Beginning of the End

I just voted in the primaries of the Democratic Party of Israel headed by Yair Golan. This hopefully is “the beginning of the end” of the Bibi government. This is the first positive step that I as an Israeli citizen have taken to change the future of my country. I have voted for the change of our government and hopefully along with other parties we will form a new government after 27 October to replace the present government which has brought us four years of disaster internally and externally.

I do not have to go through what the present government headed by Bibi has done to our society and the lives of those of us who live here. I just ask each individual citizen to ask themselves whether their life and the situation of our country is better today than it was four years ago.

And now as elections finally approach, we have a chance to finally change the government which rules our country. I have chosen to vote for the Democrat Party because this is the only party which has any policy concerning the “elephant in the room” and I mean by that, the future of the West Bank and/or Judea and Samaria.

At one point and that point should have been years ago we have to decide on what is our policy on the territories which have been under our control for more than fifty years. Do we want to absorb the territories into a Jewish democratic state with all that means to the words “Jewish” and “democratic”. Or do we want to find some way to remain a secure Jewish democratic state without absorbing these territories? The solution will not be easy but we must decide what we want!

But right now, I can support any government, which will end the disaster of the past four years in every sector. First we must clean up the disaster of the past four years and I believe that a government consisting of parties from the Democratic Party on the left to a party headed by Naftali Bennett on the right, will be able to clean up the mess created by the present government. And the first step in this clean-up has to be the creation of a Judicial Investigation Commission on the first day of the new government to find out what happened before, on and after the seventh of October.

For the first time in four years, as I voted in the Democratic Primaries a few minutes ago I felt optimistic as to the future of our country. A future for our children and grandchildren and for Jews all over the world in these troubled times! This hopefully is the “beginning of the end”.
