The Brink
It seems that the world has just breathed a collective sigh of relief. The prospects were very scary, with violent fighters from the Wagner Group and Chechnya about to engage in conflict that would include Russian troops in Moscow, and the trophy of a nuclear arsenal potentially becoming available to unknown, possibly vicious actors.
And then, as suddenly as it erupted, it just petered out and got settled. Peacefully.
Perhaps a peaceful world is on the horizon.
World Wars are, I think, becoming passé, out of fashion.
Perhaps a Messianic world, when, as the prophet Isaiah describes it, nations will not lift swords against one another, is just around the corner.
