The Consequences of Western Cowardice

While the world fixates on condemning Israel, an entire Christian family was massacred in Baniyas, Syria—and the silence from international institutions is deafening. No emergency UN meetings, no calls for war crimes investigations from the ICC, no protests in the streets of European capitals. This glaring double standard is not just hypocrisy—it is a strategic failure that enables and encourages radical Islamist violence to expand unchecked. Since October 7, the West has willfully ignored a fundamental truth: Hamas’s war against Israel is not just about Israel—it is part of a global jihadist movement that seeks to destroy Western civilization itself. The same ideology that drove Hamas’s massacre of Jewish men, women, and children in southern Israel is now fueling the slaughter of Christians in Syria. And if left unchallenged, it will inevitably strike the West itself.

The Islamist War on Non-Muslims: A Pattern Repeated

The events of October 7 did not occur in a vacuum. The massacre of Jews in Israel, the execution of a Christian family in Syria, and the rise of pro-Hamas sentiment in Western capitals are all symptoms of the same underlying reality: the West’s refusal to acknowledge that radical Islamist movements are waging a long-term war against all who refuse to submit to their ideology.

This is not the first time the world has ignored the warning signs. The historical precedent is clear:
• 1930s Germany: The world dismissed Hitler’s persecution of Jews. Then, he plunged Europe into war.
• 1948 Arab Expulsions: After Israel’s independence, 850,000 Jews were expelled from Arab nations. Soon after, those same states turned on their own Christian minorities, forcing them to flee.
• The Rise of ISIS (2010s): First, they beheaded Jews and Christians in Iraq and Syria. Then, they inspired terrorist attacks in Paris, Brussels, and New York.
• October 7, 2023: Hamas carried out a Jewish genocide in Israel. Now, a Christian family is massacred in Syria.

And yet, the Western world continues to act as though radical Islamist movements can be placated or reasoned with.

In reality, the massacre in Syria is not an isolated tragedy—it is a consequence of the West’s cowardice.

How the West Legitimized Islamist Violence

The international response to October 7 revealed a deep ideological and strategic failure in the West. Instead of standing firmly against Hamas’s brutality, Western governments and media outlets rushed to find excuses for the perpetrators. The attack was framed as a consequence of “occupation,” as if that somehow justifies mass rape, the execution of entire families, and the systematic murder of innocent civilians.

This response emboldened not only Hamas, but also Iran’s entire network of jihadist proxies—Hezbollah in Lebanon, the Houthis in Yemen, and various Islamist militias in Syria and Iraq. They saw that Western elites were more interested in vilifying Israel than in confronting the real perpetrators of terror.

The massacre in Syria is a direct result of this dynamic.

Why should radical Islamist groups in Syria fear consequences when Hamas—whose terrorists livestreamed themselves slaughtering Israeli civilians—was met with international sympathy? Why should Hezbollah or Iran’s militias exercise restraint when the UN and EU are too busy demonizing Israel to confront the real aggressors?

The answer is simple: They don’t fear any consequences.

October 7 Was a Test—And the West Failed

When Hamas carried out its genocidal attack on October 7, it was not just testing Israel. It was testing the resolve of the Western world to stand up against jihadist violence.

That test was failed.

Hamas’s atrocities—burning babies alive, gang-raping women, slaughtering entire families—were not hidden. They were broadcast live. And yet, Western elites hesitated. Instead of unequivocally condemning Hamas, they rationalized its actions, demanded ceasefires, and pressured Israel to restrain itself.

The message was received—by Hezbollah, by Iran, by Islamist factions in Syria, and by radicals embedded in the West. They now know they can act with impunity.

The massacre in Syria is proof of that. It is proof that jihadist groups believe they can butcher innocent civilians without consequences. And so far, they have been right.

The West is Not Immune

For decades, Western leaders have operated under the illusion that radical Islamist terror is a distant problem, confined to the Middle East. They have pursued a policy of appeasement, believing that if they offer enough concessions, they can avoid becoming a target.

This is a fatal miscalculation.

Every Western nation that has ignored the Islamist threat has paid the price in blood—whether in the form of ISIS attacks, Hezbollah sleeper cells, or Hamas-affiliated terrorists operating within their borders. The same people chanting “From the River to the Sea” in New York today will be justifying terror attacks in their own cities tomorrow.

Israel’s war against Hamas is not just about Israel—it is about defending Western civilization from an ideological movement that seeks to destroy it.

The Time for Delusions is Over

The massacre in Syria is not just a tragedy—it is a test. A test of whether the world has finally learned that radical Islamist terror cannot be ignored, excused, or appeased.

For too long, world leaders have engaged in moral equivocation, treating Islamist terrorism as a political grievance rather than the existential threat that it is. The next attack will not be in Baniyas, Syria—it will be in London, in Paris, in Washington, D.C.

The world must stop pretending that this is just an Israeli issue. It is not. This is a global war between civilization and barbarism.

The West must fully back Israel’s fight against Hamas, not only because it is morally right, but because it is strategically necessary. A weakened Israel emboldens the jihadist threat everywhere.

There is no more room for moral ambiguity. There is only a choice between confronting Islamist terror or becoming its next victim.

Because history has already written this story before. The question is whether the world will wake up before it repeats itself again.

First, they come for the Jews. Then, they come for the Christians. Then, they come for anyone who refuses to submit.

And if the West continues to ignore reality, we all know what happens next.
