The General and the King

Oh, thee, the General and, thee, the King, we have not forgotten either. Our right hand has not withered since we keep and remember Jerusalem, too.

As Iran moves from the foreground, two that were in the back can now move to the fore. The unification of the peace agreement of 1979 – with Egypt – and of 1994 – with the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan – must be brought inside the framework of the Abraham Accords, as these Accords are sure to expand quickly and broadly.

To wit, this American Rabbi addresses our American ambassadors in Egypt and the remaining Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan:

Dear Ambassador Herro Mustafa Garg,

Please remind the General, Mr. Sisi, that his country is the third largest recipient of American foreign aid. Remind him that Americans are not in the mood for foreign aid, generally, and especially at this time.

Dear Ambassador Yael Lempert,

As an American Jew serving in this capacity, you surely see the value of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in the regional configuration of the Abraham Accords. Yet, the only surviving Hashemite Kingdom at times seems to think that not being a foe is identical to being a friend.

How worthy that the Muslim Brotherhood can no longer operate in the Kingdom! The same is not even true in the United Kingdom.

Speaking of the UK, it was one of just two countries that recognized this Hashemite Kingdom’s annexation of the Jordan River’s west bank around the time of Israel’s 1948 War of Independence.

No one has to declare that “Jordan is Palestine” to understand that most of your citizen-subjects are what the radicals call “palestinians.” Let’s move matters along. Let’s make a real friendship. Israel does not want to annex the Jordan’s west bank. I’m sure a federated arrangement for the King can be found.

I am publishing these letters publicly. The Commander-in-Chief will surely agree, and having watched “The Apprentice,” I am confident that your communications with the General, Ambassador Mustafa Garg, and your communications with the King, Ambassador Lempert, will win you acclaim.

Yours Sincerely, Rabbi Matt
