The Green Party’s Anti-Zionism is Political Evil
On October 4, the Green Party of England and Wales voted to pass a motion formally titled “Zionism is Racism.” The Party also voted against a “Jewish safeguarding amendment” aimed at protecting Jewish members of the Green Party from disciplinary action or accusations of racism for affiliation with synagogues.
The notion that Zionism is Racism was covertly introduced by the Soviet Union’s propagandists to poison the West’s relations with Israel. This covert Soviet idea was made explicit in 1975 at the UN through the initiative of the “Butcher of Uganda” Idi Amin.
President Amin – responsible for the murder of up to 500,000 of his own people – was a member of the Islamic bloc (OIC), and, in 1975, chairman of the Organisation of African Unity. Amin approved of the Holocaust, and, in a telegram to the Secretary General of the UN in 1972, praised Hitler for the murder of six million Jews. He sent a copy of the telegram to Yasser Arafat. And he sent a copy to Golda Meir! In a speech to the UNGA in 1975, Amin warned of “the Zionist-American conspiracy” threatening the world, and called for the “extinction” of Israel. Amin received a standing ovation both before and after his speech. The following day, the UN Secretary-General and the UNGA President received Amin at a public dinner in his honour. A month later, the UNGA voted to pass Resolution 3379, ostensibly attacking all racism, but with a single operative paragraph stating that Zionism is Racism. In other words, the “Zionism is Racism” motion was introduced to the UN by one of the most evil political leaders in living history.
UNGA Resolution 3379 was revoked in 1991, largely due to the collapse of the Soviet Union and pressure on the UN from the US.
On October 4 2026, the Green Party in England regressed to Idi Amin’s UNGA Resolution 3379.

I am a Christian, but I do have strong connections to the Jewish community, and I have attended many services and other community events at synagogues. I am also a volunteer (vetted of course) for security at the gates of a local synagogue. All the synagogues I have attended, including a liberal one in London, have meaningful connections to Israel. Israel, and Jerusalem, is central to the Jewish Bible and liturgy (and the Christian Bible and liturgy in fact). Indeed, the majority of the world’s religious believers are taught that the One True God is God of Israel. Even the Quran frequently mentions Israel and the ‘children of Israel’.
The goal of history for over half the world’s population is “Israel”, the Holy Nation. Even antisemitic and anti-Israel Christians and Muslims accept that Jesus will return to Jerusalem. The end-time battles of history in the Abrahamic religions of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, end in the land that Abraham trod – nay purchased. This is the land that Jews are religiously bound to accept as their divine inheritance, regardless of some secularist Israeli Jews who believe that Hebron (home to about 500 Jews surrounded by 120,000 Arabs) is superfluous to the needs of Israel, and should be relinquished to the Muslim Arabs in the interests of political expediency and reducing security costs.
Almost all the nations obsessively seek to undermine the state of Israel because, for diverse reasons, the restoration of Israel to the Jews in 1948 was a humiliation of all man’s alternative religious or secular ambitions for the goal of history. A few years ago, on Twitter, I attempted to define antisemitism within the 280-character limits of a ‘tweet’:
Antisemitism isn’t primarily racism: it attacks the whole human race. It attempts either to pull man (ben adam) away from God, as in secular/liberal/Socialist/Fascist/Jewish-Atheist antisemitism, or attempts to appropriate God’s choices, as in Christian & Islamic antisemitism.
For most of the history of the past 2000 years, Jerusalem has been the derelict outpost of this or that Christian or Islamic empire. When the British took Jerusalem from the Ottoman Empire in 1917, it was one of the most derelict and diseased and forgotten cities in the world, but when Jews started to return to Jerusalem in the 20th century, Jerusalem returned to the centre of the Mappa Mundi.
In fact, neither the Church nor Islam is theologically equipped to accept or understand the Jewish restoration of Israel. For two millennia the Church had never accepted the Jewish belief that the Providence of God would ingather the Jews to Israel. This is surely why the Vatican did not officially recognise the State of Israel until 1993, in the reign of Pope John Paul II – in my view the first and only philosemitic and pro-Israel Pope (as I wrote here (blogs.timesofisrael.com) in 2021).
Those who think that Anti-Zionism in Britain is a political issue rather than a religious one need to hear what contemporary Islam teaches about the ‘Satan’ that is the State of Israel. This religious thinking has entered the Green Party of England and Wales, not least through deputy leader Mothin Ali, who on being elected to the Green Party in 2024 said it was a victory for Gaza, and chanted “Allahu Akbar”, while wrapped in a keffiyeh and wearing a “Free Palestine” badge.
Of course, many of my fellow Christians support Israel, but many Christians are as virulently anti-Israel as the Muslim Brotherhood. Christian antisemitism has been chronic for around 1900 years. Germany was overwhelmingly Christian in 1939, according to a census carried out in May 1939 indicating that 96% of Germans were Christian. Had I lived in Germany in 1935, I expect that I would had fallen foul of the Nuremberg Laws, and been imprisoned or attacked by mobs. The Green Party’s motion and amendments on 4th November are essentially its Nuremberg Laws. The motion will have no direct consequences outside of the Green Party, but it will have indirect consequences. The notion that “Zionism is Racism” has now entered mainstream British politics.
The legitimate debate for and against Zionism concluded a century ago as I wrote in this piece for The Times of Israel. The hard-won goals of Zionism have long-been achieved, and cannot be legitimately undone, just as the other 130-plus new nations that have gained international legitimacy since the World Wars and the Cold War cannot be legitimately be undone. Furthermore, of all these new nations, Israel is by far the most indispensable to the world, contributing unique innovations in agriculture, medicine, science, technology, defence, epidemiology, and malaria control. It is almost certain that the smartphone that you have come to depend on for modern living has a piece of Israel embedded in it. For those with eyes to see, Israel is already the light unto the nations!
Anti-Zionism since 1948 calls for the eradication of Israel. In other words, it is a genocidal ideology. Since 1948, Islamic anti-Zionism, and revolutionary Arab-Communist anti-Zionism have been overtly genocidal, and many, including the Muslim Brotherhood, believe they are tasked with completing the task that Hitler has started, as explained by Dr Charles Small, founder and president of the Institute for the Study of Global Antisemitism and Policy (ISGAP). This is why contemporary anti-Zionism is the most evil form of racism. Of course, not all anti-Zionists are murderers, but equally not all Nazis and Nazi supporters were murderers.
Since October 2023, the enemies of Israel have attacked the Israeli people indiscriminately, always intending to kill as many Israelis as possible with the goal of obliterating Israel. Iran, Hezbollah and the Houthis have launched thousands of rockets, missiles, and drones. Although Israel successfully prevented most of these weapons reaching their target, some got through, killing over 150 Israelis, including Jews, Arabs (both Muslim and Christian), Druze, and foreign nationals.
It was obvious to some of us long before 2023 that Iran and parts of the Arab world were planning genocide against Israel. This became increasingly obvious at the turn of the millennium, when the advent of social media coincided with the Second Intifada in Israel, shortly followed by “9/11”, which Osama Bin Laden said in his letter to the world was due to “America’s support for Israel”. In 2020 I wrote a joint essay with the historian Dr Richard Landes on what we called Genocidal Anti-Israelism – The Ticking Time Bomb.
The Green Party’s official statement says Israel has perpetrated genocide. Israel has not perpetrated genocide. Israel, which has the power to perpetrate genocide, has displayed no such intent. Hamas official Ghazi Hamad, on the other hand, promised in November 2023 to “repeat the October 7 attack time and time again until Israel is annihilated”. This is genocidal intent, no different to Nazi genocidal intent. And Ghazi Hamad’s voice is far from unusual in contemporary Islam. The organisation Palestinian Media Watch catalogues and translates the speeches and sermons from imams and political leaders in the Arab nations surrounding Israel, including calls to use all means necessary to destroy ‘the state of Satan on Earth’, as an Egyptian cleric recently said on Palestinian Authority TV.
In its war against Hamas, and its effort to recover all hostages, Israel sought to minimize civilian casualties. Hamas on the other hand sought to maximize civilian casualties – not only of Israelis but of Gazans – by using civilians as human shields, choosing to fight from civilian areas, including homes, hospitals, schools, and mosques. Hamas’ propaganda goal was and is, of course, to demonise Israel in the eyes of the whole world. Former Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, living a life of luxury in Qatar, broadcast on Al-Mayadeen TV on October 26 2023 that Hamas needed “the blood of [Palestinian] women, children and elderly”. The propaganda of the world’s Islamic bloc – largely through the Muslim Brotherhood, and massively funded by Qatar – has for decades been successfully capturing the UN, and Western media, politics, universities, churches, and NGOs. In Britain, the Islamists have not only captured the Green Party, but also recaptured the Labour Party, whose Foreign Secretary Ed Milliband was praised by Hamas and Iran in September for introducing trade sanctions against Israel.
The real genocides in the Middle East are perpetrated by Islamists, including against Christians, whose population in the region has dropped from around 20% to 5% in the past century. The only nation in the Middle East where Christians are fully free from suppression and persecution is Israel.
Why, one asks, is the world so upside-down? I think it is the result of a spiritual battle of light and dark, love and hatred, truth and falsehood in the human psyche. I believe there is a reason the world is now obsessed with Israel. Indeed, in our ancient messianic texts we read that all nations will rise against Israel, which will stand alone, through the protection of God of Israel, who will then make Himself known to the whole world.
The Peace will come. The world’s “oldest hatred” will be buried. The world’s negative obsession with Israel will become a positive obsession. Israel will become the Light unto the Nations. Jerusalem will become the House of Prayer for all nations.
Shalom.
