The #Herzl100: 100 Herzl Artifacts in 100 Days
I own the world’s largest collection of Theodor Herzl memorabilia and this summer I am posting 100 Herzl artifacts from my collection in 100 days. 45 episodes have dropped so far, with another 55 episodes to go.
The #Herzl100 can be found on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
I believe that the meaning of Zionism as intended by its founder, Herzl, has been lost. It is simply the national liberation movement of the Jewish people. As envisioned by Herzl, the Jewish people are entitled to the same rights as other people.
The ultimate objective of Herzl’s dream is the State of Israel living in peace. That element of the Zionist dream has unfortunately been mostly forgotten. This message is repeated multiple times throughout the #Herzl100.
Some of the highlights from the first 45 items (the countdown is from 100) are:
Number 60- an advertisement for Bulgarian shoe polish which has a picture of Herzl on the tin (https://www.facebook.com/share/v/16hXQRGWQb/)
Number 64- Herzl as a dad, correspondence asking for stamps for his son Hans’ collection from the Viennese Zionist, Egon Zweig (https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1DcUJRpCGp/)
Number 71- an early edition of Herzl’s novel Altneuland which was translated into Hebrew as Tel Aviv (https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1EMUd9wBid/)
Number 73- the program from Herzl’s memorial service at Carnegie Hall in New York in 1904 (https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1TpJdooKxo/)
Number 78- the Honus Wagner of Herzl cards (https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1BxWZ1t48n/)
Number 89- the Playbill from the 1976 Broadway production of Herzl (https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1EBMFJHWBD/)
Number 97- a postcard of Herzl Hall at Tel Noar Lodge in New Hampshire (https://www.facebook.com/share/r/1J6mHRESn2/)
People regularly ask me what could be better than what I have already posted, what is Number 1? The identity of Number 1 is a closely guarded secret just in case the prediction markets are covering the #Herzl100.
A new episode drops every day. Keep watching throughout the summer. Number 1 will drop right before Rosh Hashanah.
If you have any comments about any of the first 45 items, I invite you to comment below. The whole purpose of the #Herzl100 is to elicit discussion on Zionism and its real meaning.
