The Jewish People Are Unkillable. An Open Letter To Antisemites.
Do you think you are more ruthless than the Babylonian, Assyrian, Seleucid, and Roman Empires that tried to banish Jews from their homeland? Do you think you are more diabolical than a Spanish Inquisition that used extreme torture and murder to get Jews to stop being Jews? Do you think you are more efficient than the Nazis?
You’re a joke.
The Jewish people are unkillable. It’s a law of nature.
For almost 4,000 years, empires built on conquest have forcibly removed us from our homeland, enslaved us for centuries, used armies to slaughter every Jew within reach, made us choose between our tribe and our lives, raped Jewish women as if that would destroy the Jewish race, changed the name of our homeland as if we’d forget what is, where it is, and who we are.
What have you got? Clicks? Videos? People screaming slogans that only demonstrate their ignorance? People who think verbal and physical assaults are how you make peace being led like sheep by others who think creating conflict helps them achieve their political goals? The UN and the BBC, and so many other useful idiots who amplify the lies?
True. You also have murderers. Useful idiots who kill people at a café, a bus stop, a rave, a beach, a classroom, and possibly now also in their own homes.
But it’s all pointless. Do you think Israel is going to be weaker because of this? Do you think Jews living in Australia, France, Germany, The Netherlands, the UK, or the US will denounce their homeland and stop being who they are because they hope you will hate them, and hurt them, less?
Of course not. Israel’s international partnerships over the last two years, across the world and within the Middle East, have all been significantly upgraded. Jews living outside of Israel remain steadfast in their support of their own homeland. Jewish affiliation and self-identification as Jews have increased.
Also, and here is something you’d only know if you are a member of an indigenous people who have been the targets of genocide for almost 4,000 years – when people hate you, you can’t appease them. Antisemites don’t become less antisemitic when Jews cower – they become emboldened.
The Jewish people in Israel and the Jewish people dealing with antisemitism around the world have taken the worst that antisemites can throw at us. Israel has dismantled Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran in ways that no one thought possible. In fact, Israel’s success in war keeps driving people to Israel’s doorstep. Jews around the world have coped with being bullied and abandoned by people they thought were their allies.
Antisemites kill Jews at a beach in Australia, but the Jewish community in Australia will only get stronger. The Jewish community in Australia will build deeper relationships with other communities across the country. Jewish communities and non-Jewish communities around the world are coping with that killing by deepening partnerships in the hope that they can thwart the next attempt to kill Jews who are just trying to live their lives, in Israel and in London, Paris, Berlin, and Providence Rhode Island.
Even though some Jewish people have died and more will likely die in the weeks and months ahead at the hands of antisemites, the Jewish people will only end up becoming stronger internally and more tightly integrated with the rest of the world. Every time an antisemite tries to kill us or tries to kill the idea of us as a people, the more resilient we become.
The Roman Empire couldn’t erase us. Hitler couldn’t eliminate us.
