Reports say Bipin was there, trying to reach a safe room when attackers stormed in. He was taken, along with other Nepali students. Ten were killed, some were injured, a few escaped, and some were rescued. Bipin vanished.

According to various accounts, he tried to throw back a grenade to protect others inside the safe room, a moment of courage that has now become a symbol of his bravery.
