The nomination and the subsequent election of Mamdani as mayor of New York City was a dangerous and catastrophic event for the city, and arguably for the country. How did it happen? Far too many New York voters were totally clueless when they voted for the opposing Republican candidate who had no chance of winning. They voted their party, not realizing that this time was different. Other New York City voters felt righteous and noble in refusing to vote for a candidate running on the Independent ticket as a matter of “principle,” to punish him for his past bad record, even though voting for him might have resulted in a loss for Mamdani.

Then there were those who invited Mamdani into their homes for a “meet and greet,” mistakenly thinking that if they appease the future mayor he will be nice to them after the elections. Worst of all were voters who exemplified the term “useful idiots,” those who believed that Mamdani’s youth, his empty words and vapid smile would be good for New York. They therefore voted Democrat, as they have always done, for the party that has been overtaken by Progressive Socialists who are happy to destroy our cities to stay in power. The extreme danger posed by Mamdani, comparable to no other previous mayor, or candidate in the running, was downplayed as if Mamdani were just another one of several bad candidates to choose from. They turned a blind eye to the stark and chilling difference this mayor presented. As a result, we now have a mayor who hates Israel, is spreading lies about Israel’s past and present, and frames his antisemitism as “anti Zionism,” though it is hard to draw a distinction since Israel is the one Jewish state on this planet.

Mayor Mandani just released a video about “Nakba Day” which marks the so called Palestinian “catastrophe” created on May 14, 1948, when the UN proclaimed Israel’s statehood. In Mamdani’s video, a Palestinian woman mournfully recounts a tale of woe, in which her family was forced out of Israel at the time of the “Nakba,” holding nothing but “keys to their homes.” The video fails to mention that when the Arab countries waged war on Israel in 1947, they instructed the Arab population to leave their homes and stay out of the way while they launched a war against Israel. They had every intention and expectation of annihilating the Jews who had returned to their homeland of Israel after the Holocaust. The goal of the Arab nations, which has never changed, was to make Israel “Jew free.” Prime Minister Netanyahu has correctly stated, “The Nakba was the result of the Arab rejection of the UN Partition Plan (of 1947) and decision to launch war to annihilate the State of Israel.”

The Arabs refused to abide by the UN mandate of two states living side by side. Arabs fled, as their leaders told them to do. However, things didn’t go as planned. They lost, and Israel won the war. Israel put a crimp in their plans to destroy the Jewish State. Since then, the myth of the victim-hood of Palestinians, who became perpetual refugees, has been promoted as if it were based on fact rather than what it was, propaganda based on a reinvented, recreated reality.

In Mamdani’s fairy tale video, there is no mention of this history. There is also no mention of the over 850,000 Jews who were forced to flee Arab lands, where they had lived for centuries prior, to escape the violent attacks incited by Hitler’s compatriot, “the Mufti of Jerusalem.” Jews were violently attacked and forced to flee from those lands, leaving behind all their possessions and the wealth they had accumulated for which they were never compensated. The fledgling state of Israel took in those Jewish immigrants, while the Arab countries refused to take in the Palestinian refugees. All this history is omitted from Mamdani’s “Nakba” video.

Is the mayor of NY City encouraging the city’s large Jewish population to flee the city to make more room for Muslims, and anti Jewish Islamists? Is he attempting to change the demographics of New York City? What does this Nakba video have to do with Mamdani’s duties as Mayor of New York City? The real Nakba is that Mamdani, whose hatred for Jews and Israel is palpable, has been elected as Mayor of New York City where the greatest population of Jews outside of Israel reside. Indeed, a mayor who promotes Marxist ideology and support for Islamists, many of whom he has appointed to help him run this city to the ground, is indeed creating a catastrophe, not only for the Jewish population, but for the entire city of New York, the largest city in the country.
