The Saddest Death Of Sinwar

Last night, my phone buzzed with a notification. I woke up. I realized it was an email at midnight. It was from “The Times of Israel.” I keep the alerts from this newspaper turned on for urgent news updates. I checked the time on my phone—2:27 AM Tokyo time.
Before reading the article, I glanced at the headline. It read, “Hamas leader and Oct. 7 mastermind Yahya Sinwar killed by IDF troops in Gaza.” How could anyone sleep after seeing such news?
Yesterday was October 17, 2024. It was the 377th day of the ongoing war. This is another glorious day in Israeli history. A day of victory. A day of national celebration.
We all know that Yahya Sinwar was the notorious mastermind behind the October 7 terrorist attacks last year, where he led a brutal assault on Israel, resulting in the merciless killing of innocent civilians. Many were also abducted, tortured, and later killed. So, naturally, Sinwar’s death is a day of celebration in Israel.
On the other hand, it’s a day of reckoning for enemies. Those who think they can destroy Israel through terrorism will meet the same tragic end as this infamous Sinwar. His death sends a clear and strong warning to them.
I believe Sinwar’s death is one of the most tragic deaths of any unfortunate person in the world. He was killed last after witnessing the deaths of all his friends. He watched Gaza, the very land he sought to control, become rubble.
He also saw his people starving, Gaza filled with the cries of despair. There is no future for Hamas. The few remaining members are fleeing to other countries, abandoning their cause. Sinwar witnessed this devastation, helpless and consumed with sorrow.
I am sure that he realized Gaza’s destruction was the direct result of his own sinister plans. In the end, death seemed like his only escape. That’s why he came out from his underground hideout to die. Surrendering to death is a severe defeat. That’s why I can say it’s a pathetic death.
I hope no enemy ever experiences such a tragic demise. This is not just Sinwar’s downfall but a grave warning to all of Israel’s enemies. I also hope that Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran should take heed of this. Will they?
It’s also clear that Sinwar’s death marks a turning point in Gaza. The war is probably going to end soon.
May Israel live on for a thousand years. Congratulations to the IDF and Shin Bet. And Congratulations to Israel.
