The shot heard round the world

I have my own take on human history I’ve mentioned in my Kyiv Post articles a few times.

In a simple nutshell, the destiny of humanity is controlled by geniuses, psychopaths and black swan events. The clash of these three forces create societies we live in. There’s much more to it but I’m not going to bore you when we’re still in the weekend-mode.

I’m not going to theorize who’s behind the assassination and the motives. Let’s leave it to the FBI and others.

Now, what I do know is that Trump’s assassination is a catalyst. You’re now going to have a lot of people across the US — on both sides — who felt constrained until now, take a drastic turn in their thinking. They didn’t want to get violent. These brakes are now gone as both sides feel justified it’s time to take it to another level, just for different reasons. Will it lead to the civil war? Who knows. It might, it might not, all depends on how much escalation on the ground in the US we’re going to see.

The fallout is yet to be known. This is going to affect Israel, Ukraine, Taiwan, and — indeed — Poland.

Russian propagandists are, of course, ecstatic. The bear is dancing and jumping with joy.

I don’t blame the bear for being in such a good mood today. If this thing spirals out of control, the US won’t be the least bit interested in international affairs. There’ll be too much chaos back home. US bases, diplomatic premises, and so on, are then likely to become targets of various fanatics and nutjobs. Israel needs to be on alert, too. Things can spiral out of control fast.

One shot. Far-reaching consequences we’re yet to fully grasp. That’s how today’s world works.
