The Two Existential Threats Facing Civilization Today

Climate change we can do something about, but the second one is unstoppable.

There are two existential threats facing civilisation today.

The first one, climate change, is now undeniable (except for die-hard conspiracy theorists and partisan pundits pushing political agendas).

Climate Change

In October 2018, the United Nations released a special report on climate change[2] that caused alarm bells to sound across the world. Essentially it gives us until 2030 to make drastic changes, or risk climate catastrophe.

Considering that every year breaks previous years’ climate records, the following statistics for 2023 alone are sobering:

• • 2015-2023: these are the nine warmest years on record, with 2023 shattering climate records worldwide.[3]
  • Europe: The summer of 2023 was Europe’s hottest on record, with July and August being the hottest the world has ever recorded.[4]
  • Australia: Australia had its hottest year on record in 2023.[5]
  • Canada: 2023 was the worst wildfire season in Canadian history,[6] the worst in a century.[7] The Washington Post says we are now entering into the fire equivalent of an ice age, or the “Pyrocene Age”.[8]
  • World: 2023 was the first time on record that every day within a year exceeded 1°C above the 1850-1900 pre-industrial level. Close to 50% of days were more than 1.5°C warmer then the 1850-1900 level, and two days in November were, for the first time, more than 2°C warmer.[9] The amount of heat stored in the upper layers of the ocean reached a record high in 2023 with scientists warning that the critical Atlantic Ocean current system is showing early signs of collapse.[10] The April 2023 UN report on climate said that the world’s glaciers melted at dramatic speed in 2022, and saving them is effectively a lost cause.[11]
  • 2024: 2024 is set to be even hotter than 2023 and break all these records.[12] It is already off to an ominous start, with February 2024 being the hottest on record (extending the run of monthly records to nine in a row), the world’s sea surface its highest on record, and Antarctic sea-ice reaching extreme lows for the third year running.[13]

While the science of climate change is undeniable, 2019 seemed to be a tipping point in public consciousness. Even the terminology used to describe it has migrated from climate change, to climate crisis, to climate catastrophe. Time Magazine said on July 9, 2020 that we are at a “climate crossroads”, and headlined an article that reads “2020 is our Last, Best Chance to Save the Planet.”[14] The magazine cover for that week said “ONE LAST CHANCE. THE DEFINING YEAR FOR THE PLANET.”

Climate change is an existential threat to civilisation about which we can do something, and which we are (finally). But it is probably too little too late given that 2023 was a year of climate tipping points,[15] with the UN warning in 2022 that more ambitious action is needed to make the changes required by 2030 to cut CO2 emissions to 45% by 2030 compared to 2010 levels.[16] Had we had the same urgency 30 years ago as we have today we may not be in the same dire planetary-survival position we are.

But long before the consequences of climate catastrophe ravage the planet, there is another existential threat to civilisation facing us, about which we can do nothing, and which is unstoppable: Islam.

Islam

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says… Revelation 2:29 (NIV)

Islam’s goals are world domination[17] with governance under Sharia law.[18] If we are in any doubt about this, we need to hear what Islam has been saying – and doing – for centuries,[19] for the evidence is abundantly clear for all to see. Raymond Ibrahim[20] exhaustively documents this centuries-long jihad of Muslim conquests on Christendom (that prompted the Crusades in response) in his excellent book Sword and Scimitar: Fourteen Centuries of War Between Islam and the West.

So for instance, when the founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hassan al-Banna (1903-49), said in 1928:[21]

“It is the nature of Islam to dominate, not to be dominated, to impose its law on all nations and to extend its power to the entire planet.”

We need to hear what he’s saying, and believe it, for this is the raison d’être of Islam.

And when the Muslim Brotherhood’s creed states:[22]

Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. Qur’an is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.

We need to pay attention and believe it, for this simple creed outlines the modus operandi of Muslims worldwide.

And when the Koran says to kill or behead disbelieving non-Muslims:

If you encounter the disbelievers in a battle, strike-off their heads… Koran 47:4

Kill the polytheists [Christians who believe in the Trinity] wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush… Koran 9:5

We need to hear what the Koran says and believe it, for between January 2014 and 2020 there were 112 incidents of beheadings from groups such as Al-Shabaab, Boko Haram, the Taliban, ISIS, et al in which 1,251 individuals were beheaded.[23]

And in February 2015, when 21 Egyptian Christians were beheaded on a beach in Libya[24] and the leader said:[25]

“All praises due to Allah, the strong and mighty, and may blessings and peace be upon the one sent by the sword, as a mercy to all the worlds [Prophet Muhammad]. Oh people, recently you’ve seen us on the hills of Al-Sham [Greater Syria] and on Dabiq’s Plain [Syria], chopping off the heads that had been carrying the cross delusion for a long time, filled with spite against Islam and Muslims, and today we’re on the south of Rome, on the land of Islam, Libya, sending another message: Oh crusaders, safety for you will be only wishes. Especially when you’re fighting us all together, therefore, we will fight you all together, until the war lays down its burdens and Jesus, peace be upon him, will descend, breaking the cross, killing the swine, and abolishing Jizya [the tax imposed on non-Muslims in the Islamic world], and the sea you’ve hidden Sheikh Osama bin Laden’s body in, we swear to Allah, we will mix it with your blood.”

We need to hear what he’s saying and believe him, for he’s merely following the Koran’s instructions.

And in April 2015, when 30 Ethiopian Christians were also beheaded on a beach in Libya[26] and the leader said:[27]

“You will not have safety, even in your dreams, until you embrace Islam.”

We need to hear what he’s saying and believe him, for he’s merely restating Islam’s goal of subjugating the world to Islam.

And when the hadith – the sayings of Muhammad that are a key source of authority in Islam, surpassed only by the Koran – says:

The Hour will not begin until you fight the Jews, until a Jew will hide behind a rock or a tree, and the rock or tree will say: ‘O Muslim, O slave of Allah, here is a Jew behind me; come and kill him.’ Book 54, Hadith 103

And when the Hamas charter calls for the ethnic cleansing of Israel:

The Islamic Resistance Movement is a distinguished Palestinian movement, whose allegiance is to Allah, and whose way of life is Islam. It strives to raise the banner of Allah over every inch of Palestine. Hamas Charter, Article 6

Palestine is an Islamic Waqf land consecrated for Moslem generations until Judgment Day. Hamas Charter, Article 11

And when Muslim Brotherhood founder Hassan al-Banna said about Israel’s right to exist:[28]

“Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it, just as it obliterated others before it.”  Hassan al-Banna

And when Muslim Brotherhood General Guide Muhammad Badie stated in a sermon in 2012:[29]

“Every Muslim must act to save Jerusalem from the usurpers and to [liberate] Palestine from the claws of occupation. This is a personal duty for all Muslims. They must participate in jihad by [donating] money or [sacrificing] their life.”

And when the Islamic State said in a recording just two months ago, on January 4, 2024:[30]

“Lions of Islam: Chase your preys whether Jewish, Christian or their allies, on the streets and roads of America, Europe, and the world. Break into their homes, kill them and steal their peace of mind by any means you can lay hands on. Understand that you are the arm of the Islamic State hitting in the kuffar’s [infidels’] homelands, and are avenging the Muslims in Palestine, Iraq, Sham [the greater Syria region], and other Muslim countries. Solidify your plans and diversify the attacks: detonate explosives, burn them with grenades and fiery agents, shoot them with bullets, cut their throats with sharp knives, and run them over with vehicles. A sincere person will not lack the means to draw blood from the hearts of the Jews, the Christians, and their allies, and thus ease the suffering in the hearts of the believers. Come at them from every door, kill them by the worst of means, turn their gatherings and celebrations into bloody massacres, do not distinguish between a civilian kaffir, and a military one, for they are all kuffar and the ruling against them is one…. Intentionally seek easy targets before hard ones, civilian targets before military ones, religious targets like synagogues and churches before others, for this will satisfy the soul and will demonstrate the characteristics of the battle, as our battle with them is a religious one and we kill them wherever we come upon them in response to Allah Almighty’s command.”

And when Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar says that “October 7 was just a rehearsal”[31] and that “Hamas won’t surrender”,[32]

we need to hear what they’re all saying – and believe them!

Because Iran’s Muslims do (as evidenced by their constant mantra “Death to Israel” and threats to “wipe Israel off the map”), and so do Palestinians, as evidenced by their vicious, repeated, unprovoked attacks on Israelis over the decades, which include rocket-firings, car-rammings, rock-throwings, stabbings, shootings, bombings, two intifadas (1987-93; 2000-05), a stabbing intifada (2015-16), and the October 7, 2023 massacre that killed more than 1,200 men, women and children!

And when we hear the Muslim motto:

“First the Saturday people, then the Sunday people.” From a Middle Eastern proverb “After Saturday comes Sunday,” a reference to the persecution of Jews first, followed by Christians.[33]

We need to hear what it says and believe it, because Jewish and Christian populations have been purged from the Middle East and North Africa since the 20^th century through Muslim persecution, pogroms and expulsions.[34]

And when we hear the catchphrase chanted by thousands of anti-Semitic pro-Hamas protestors around the world:

“From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

We need to hear what they’re chanting and believe them, as this map dramatically reveals just what that genocidal mantra means:

Has The World Forgotten?

The memory of 9/11 that was seared into the world’s collective conscience when 19 hijackers crashed two planes into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York, and two more into the Pentagon and the Pennsylvania countryside in 2001, killing 2,977 people and bringing the world to a standstill, will not be quickly forgotten.[36]

But has the world forgotten about the Sinjar massacre in August 2014, where thousands of Yazidis were shot, beheaded, and abducted, and 50,000 more were trapped on Mount Sinjar as they fled ISIS?[37]

Has the world forgotten about the 100,000 Christians who fled Qaraqosh and neighbouring villages in Iraq as they fled ISIS in 2014, while thousands more were buried alive, burnt alive, shot, and the women raped, killed, or married off to ISIS fighters?[38]

Has the world forgotten about the hundreds of attacks committed worldwide by the Islamic State in recent years in which at least 12,000 people have died?[39]

Has the world forgotten about the tens of thousands of deaths attributed to Boko Haram since 2009?[40]

And those are just the “major highlights” from recent memory, that don’t include the slightly less “spectacular” incidents featuring significantly fewer deaths, but which were nonetheless horrific in their own right and which commanded the world’s attention at the time, such as:

• • the 2004 Madrid train bombings (the 3/11 attacks) in ten coordinated explosions on four commuter trains perpetrated by Al-Qaeda that killed 193 people and injured 2,050 more;[41]
  • and the 2005 London bombings (the 7/7 attacks) in four coordinated suicide attacks on three underground trains and one double-decker bus carried out by Islamist terrorists that killed 56 people and injured 784 more;[42]
  • and the 2008 Mumbai attacks (the 26/11 attacks) carried out over four days in 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks committed by the militant Islamist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (Who?) that killed 175 people and injured more than 300;[43]
  • and the 2014 incident in Chibok, Nigeria when 276 mostly Christian female schoolgirls aged 16 to 18 were kidnapped by Boko Haram with more than 90 still missing as of June 30, 2023;[44]
  • and the 2015 Paris attacks in a series of Islamic State coordinated suicide bombings and mass shootings that killed 130 people and injured at least 416;[45]
  • and the 2016 truck attack in Nice, France where Muslim extremist Mohamed Lahouaiej-Bouhlel drove a 19-tonne cargo truck into crowds celebrating Bastille Day that killed 86 people and injured 434 more;[46]
  • and the 2017 ISIS-inspired twin suicide bombings in Tanta and Alexandria, Egypt on Palm Sunday that killed 363 people and injured 505 more;[47]
  • and the 2018 string of suicide bombings and gun attacks in As-Suwayda, Syria by ISIS that killed 258 (+63 attackers) and injured 180 more;[48]
  • and the 2019 Sri Lanka Easter bombings in a series of coordinated ISIS-related attacks perpetrated by nine suicide bombers that killed 269 people and injured 500 more;[49]
  • and hundreds of other attacks in recent years.

Has the world forgotten those already? Are they now so commonplace that we’ve become so inured to violent Muslim extremist terrorism that we go on with our day without another thought, before moving on to witness tomorrow’s attacks with the same familiar, numbed indifference?

However, lest we forget atrocities committed in the latter part of the 20^th century, has the world already forgotten about:

• • The four airliners spectacularly hijacked in September 1970 by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), but which was resolved with only the death of one hijacker and one injury?[50]
  • Or the Munich Massacre during the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, when eight members of the Palestinian militant organisation Black September murdered 11 Israeli athletes?[51]
  • Or the Italian cruise ship Achille Lauro hijacked in October 1985 by the Palestine Liberation Front (PLF) where a Jewish-American man in a wheelchair was murdered and thrown overboard?[52]
  • Or the US Embassies bombed by Al-Qaeda in Nairobi, Kenya and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania in August 1998, killing 224 people?[53]
  • Or the USS Cole bombed by Al-Qaeda in Yemen in October 2000, killing 17 US Navy soldiers?[54]

It is truly unbelievable that the world has such collective amnesia over the 48,035 terror attacks committed by Islam’s infamous terrorist groups between 1979 and May 2021 in which at least 210,138 people died,[55] such as by Al-Qaeda,[56] Al-Shabaab,[57] Boko Haram,[58] Hamas,[59] Hezbollah,[60] ISIS,[61] Palestinian Islamic Jihad,[62] the Taliban,[63] and hundreds more too numerous to mention,[64] relegated to obscurity by their more “colourful” counterparts.

How is the world able to constantly excuse these perennial attacks by consistently dismissing the heinous actions of its murderous fanatics as “mental health” issues (Really? All of them?), instead of recognising them for what they are: the tragic results of a repugnant creed whose religious texts are reinforced weekly in relentless sermons that radicalize its followers[65] by joyfully embracing hate and death over love and life, which is in stark contrast to Judaism and Christianity which preach the opposite!

But What About Peaceful Muslims?

In response to the criticism that by focusing solely on radical Islam I’m being unfair to the majority of moderate, peaceful Muslims, I offer the following transcript.[66] This same question arose during a panel discussion on the US Government’s response to the attacks on the US Consulate at Benghazi in 2012, to which Brigitte Gabriel, founder of ACT for America,[67] responded:

Brigitte Gabriel: Great question…

There are 1.2 billion Muslims in the world today. Of course not all of them are radicals. The majority of them are peaceful people. The radicals are estimated to be between 15 to 25 percent according to all intelligence services around the world. That leaves 75% of them peaceful people. But when you look at 15 to 25 percent of the world Muslim population, you’re looking at 180 million to 300 million people dedicated to the destruction of Western Civilisation. That is as big of [sic] the United States. So why should we worry about the radicals – 15 to 25 percent. Because it is the radicals that kill. Because it is the radicals that behead and massacre.

• • • • When you look throughout history, when you look at all the lessons of history, most Germans were peaceful, yet the Nazis drove the agenda, and as a result, 60 million people died; almost 14 million in concentration camps; 6 million were Jews. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.

• • • • When you look at Russia, most Russians were peaceful as well. Yet the Russians were able to kill 20 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.

• • • • When you look at China for example, most Chinese were peaceful as well. Yet the Chinese were able to kill 70 million people. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.

• • • • When you look at Japan prior to World War II, most Japanese were peaceful as well. Yet Japan was able to butcher its way across South East Asia, killing 12 million people, mostly killed with bayonets and shovels. The peaceful majority were irrelevant.

• • • • On September 11^th [2001] in the United States we had 2.3 million Arab Muslims living in the United States. It took 19 hijackers, 19 radicals, to bring America down to its knees, destroy the World Trade Center, attack the Pentagon, and kill almost 3,000 Americans that day. The peaceful majority were irrelevant…

It is time we take political correctness and throw it in the garbage where it belongs and start calling a spade a spade.

In short, the peaceful Muslim majority is irrelevant when radical terrorists are driving the agenda.

The Origins of the Conflict

The answers to the problems facing the world regarding Islam won’t be found in geo-political or socio-economic solutions (as the West consistently frames Muslim “grievances”), for this is a spiritual battle being fought in the spiritual realm – reflected in corresponding battles being fought in real time on earth – for control of this planet.

This battle is between the spiritual forces operating behind the descendants of Abraham’s son Ishmael – the Arabs, and other Muslims (Ishmael’s spiritual descendants) – being perpetrated against the descendants of Abraham’s other son Isaac – the Jews, and Christians (Isaac’s spiritual descendants).

The source of the hatred Muslims have for Jews goes back to when Abraham banished Ishmael and his Egyptian mother Hagar (Genesis 21). Those seeds of abandonment, rejection and anger have metastasized into the fruits of bitterness, hatred and revenge.

“In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, and do not give the devil a foothold.  Ephesians 4:26-27 (NIV)

By allowing those seeds of rejection to poison their souls, they and their descendants allowed the devil to gain a foothold that eventually founded the Muslim religion of hate, revenge and death, the antitheses of the Judeo-Christian religion based on love, mercy and life, which is why this is now a battle between the Muslim god of Allah, and the God of Jews and Christians.

Summary

Earlier I only partially quoted this scripture:

Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says… Revelation 2:29 (NIV)

This scripture was written to Christians, with the rest of the line reading “…what the Spirit says to the churches.” But in the context of Islam we need to hear “what the spirit behind Islam is saying to the world,” as witnessed by what the Koran says, what the hadith says, what Muslim leaders throughout history have said, and what current Muslim leaders are saying – for they mean what they say – as attested to by their actions over their entire history since the religion was founded in the 7^th century.

I posited in a previous article that October 7, 2023 was the Birth of the Messianic Era, and that the countdown has begun for Jews and Christians to anticipate the arrival of their Messiah.

But the flip side of that coin is that Muslims are also eagerly expecting the emergence of their messiah too – the Mahdi – for the birth of the Messianic era applies equally to both of Abraham’s son’s descendants arising together in synchrony. The Mahdi is referred to in Christendom as the Antichrist, and now that we are in the Messianic era, the rise of the Mahdi/Antichrist is imminent.[68]

It’s time for the West to WAKE UP! Aggressors see appeasement as weakness. Just ask Neville Chamberlain how appeasement with Hitler worked out.

Which means there is an inexorable clash of civilisations coming, Islam vs. Judaism and Christianity – i.e. the West – whose ultimate dénouement will be fought at the battle of Armageddon (Revelation 16:14-16).

There is nothing we can do to stop this, given Islam’s stated goal of world domination, the spiritual forces impelling Islam’s adherents, and biblical prophecy. So we can forget about having to deal with climate change as an existential threat to civilisation, because first we will have to face the spiritual forces driving Islam to fulfill its mandate to subjugate the planet.

Even the casual observer cannot help but notice that there’s been a gathering momentum of unavoidable Islam-inspired terrorism in recent decades that has notably increased since 9/11 in 2001. The quantum upsurge in barbarity since the rise of ISIS in 2014 is diabolically evil and violently propelling us – with compounding frequency and spiraling madness – towards a depressing and deeply disturbing dystopian destiny, from which there’s no hope of escape.

For Islam is the existential threat facing civilisation today!

1. • The Messianic era has begun!
     • The Mahdi/Antichrist is coming!
       • Armageddon follows!

Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear what the spirit behind Islam is saying:

            • to the synagogues,
