There are two kinds of seeing
With our eyes, and with our heads.
But we only see, when we open our eyes. We only see, when we open our minds to the wonders around us.
A table is set with the most scrumptious edibles. Beautifully presented. A sight to behold. But only if we open our eyes to it.
A world is unfolding with precise Divine providence. Redemption is in the air. It seems so clear. But only when we open our eyes.
Israel gave up Gaza. And October 7 happened. Now some people want to give up Gaza again; and some even want to give up the West Bank.
They refuse to open up their eyes. They refuse to see, that giving away land is plain downright dangerous.
They live in an imaginary land, refusing to see reality.
Three times a day, in the ‘Amida’ prayer, we ask G-d to “Let our eyes see, when You return to Zion, with mercy.”
Perhaps the mercy refers to, not just G-d’s returning to Zion, but also to opening our eyes. Because when G-d mercifully helps us, encourages us, motivates us to open our eyes, then Redemption dawns. When we see His presence, then we are seeing the dawn of Redemption.
May we see it very soon
