By the Grace of G-d

This Passover, miracles are happening

The seventh day of Passover, which begins this Tuesday night — the same night by when Iran’s regime must agree to open the strait of Hormuz or be bombarded — commemorates when the Egyptians chased after the Israelites into the sea.

The sea split, Israel passed through, and the Egyptians weren’t sure if they should follow.  But the Almighty hardened their hearts (Exodus 14; 17) and the Egyptians chased after the Israelites. (The Egyptians were lured into the sea, in order to be punished for their evil deeds.) Then, after Israel reached the shore, G-d told Moses to stretch his hand over the sea, and when Moses did so, the waters rushed back and drowned the Egyptians.

When Israel saw how G-d saved them, “they believed in G-d, and in His servant Moses.” (Exodus 14; 31)

Now too, the Jewish people and the world are seeing wondrous events, as the Almighty protects His chosen nation, thus benefiting all of humanity. For when evil is defeated, peace and prosperity can flourish.

There are striking parallels between the Iran War and the ancient Exodus from Egypt, as well as fascinating differences.

The waters of the sea proved to be Egypt’s undoing, and similarly the waters of Hormuz are leading to the Iranian regime’s downfall. G-d hardened Egypt’s heart, and they pursued Israel into the sea. And it seems that, similarly, G-d has confused the leaders of Iran, so that they are insisting on closing the waters of Hormuz, even though it will probably soon lead to the regime’s destruction.

And there are differences. G-d split and unsplit the sea, while Moses raised his arm over the waters. So while there was some human input, it was abundantly clear to all that G-d did it.

But with the Iran War, (while everything happens by Divine providence, and our efforts are only successful when the Almighty wants it to be, nevertheless) US and Israeli forces are fully engaged in the fighting.

In other words, superpowers are focused on saving humanity, as they use their militaries to eradicate evil.

The world is becoming refined, standing up to injustice, righting the wrongs.

And the leaders of the US and Israel acknowledge clearly and repeatedly, that G-d is performing miracles, to save Israel and the world.

It’s now Passover in the Jewish year 5786. Perhaps this year, in this month of miracles, (the Jewish month of Nisan is related to the word ‘Nes’ which is the Hebrew word for miracle), we will welcome the most wondrous miracle of all, the complete Redemption with Moshiach.

Indeed, on the eighth day of Passover, we recite in the synagogue the comforting prophecy of Isaiah, which describes the Redemption with Moshiach, when there will be peace everywhere, “for the entire world will be filled with awareness of G-d, just as the waters cover the sea.” (Isaiah 11; 9)

May it happen now.
