This Thanksgiving, Be Honest: You’re Thankful for Israel Whether You Admit It or Not

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone celebrating!
Especially the people spending today enjoying the countless innovations Israel gave the world while pretending they don’t.

Let’s cut the turkey for a second.
If you’re using a car that keeps you in your lane,
a phone that stores your entire life,
GPS that gets you to dinner,
medical technology that protects your family,
or social platforms where you post your hot takes,
you’re already benefiting from Israeli innovation.

So before the annual parade of performative outrage arrives, here’s a simple reminder:

If you’re “anti-Israel,” feel free to shut off and throw out the following. Thanksgiving is about integrity, after all.

What You Must Avoid If You’re Not Thankful for Israel
• Waze – navigate by vibes only
• USB flash drives – hope you don’t need to save anything
• Mobileye – good luck parallel parking your conscience
• Cherry tomatoes – enjoy your salad of shame
• PillCam – because who needs internal diagnostics
• Iron Dome tech – you’ll never need defense, surely
• Drip irrigation – tell your farmers to pray for rain
• ReWalk – deny mobility to people who need it, bold choice
• Water desalination – stay thirsty
• Firewalls and cybersecurity – may your inbox be ever compromised
• Intel chips designed in Israel – so basically every computer you own
• ICQ – the ancestor of every messaging app you touch
• Voice mail technology – if someone misses your call, too bad
• 5G components – enjoy your buffering

Israel is a country of nine million people that has saved lives, cured diseases, revolutionized agriculture, reshaped global tech, and pushed humanity forward again and again.

If you still can’t say “thank you,” at least say “goodbye” to everything Israel built that you use every day.

Happy Thanksgiving
Grateful for the U.S.
Grateful for Israel
Grateful for the troops who protect freedom everywhere

About the Author
Sammy Dweck Fragin grew up in a loud, opinionated, deeply loving Syrian Jewish family in New York. One of eleven kids, he learned early that identity is something you negotiate daily, usually over food, stories, and people talking at the same time. In 2014, he made aliyah to serve in the IDF and never left, choosing Israel not as an idea but as a life. Today, Sammy works in real estate and with olim, helping people do more than buy property. He helps them land, adjust, and feel at home in a country that does not make that easy. Alongside his real estate work, he specializes in social media, marketing strategy, and ghostwriting, helping individuals and organizations say what they actually mean, not what sounds safe. His writing has appeared in several newspapers and sits at the intersection of American and Israeli life, tradition and modernity, personal experience and public debate. He believes identity is layered, belonging is built over time, and home is something you actively create. Also, yes, he is single, socially functional, and still optimistic enough to believe that good conversations, shared values, and a decent sense of humor matter more than algorithms.
