Tribute to the Women of the IDF

It was incredulous that there had never been a Tribute to the Women of the IDF in Israel.

After learning about the rape, massacre and kidnapping of the virtually unarmed women at their “Electronic Border Monitoring Centers” by Hamas on October 7, I asked a question. Is there a Tribute to the Women of the IDF?

Sam Philipe, my friend, sculptor, and Israeli representative, said simply, ‘No.’ “There was no Tribute to the Women of the IDF in Israel or anywhere.”

The Jewish American Society for Historic Preservation came up with a concept, funding, and resolved to do what should have been done a long time ago.

Women soldiers constitute ~20% of the IDF. Women IDF soldiers have served, fought, and died for Israel since 1948. During the October 7 horror, women did their duties, some even manned tank units to repel the second Holocaust. During Operation Rising Lion, Women pilots flew the skies.

July 8, in Petach Tikvah, a 14-foot sculptural permanent Tribute to the Women of the IDF will be dedicated ~5:30, Moreno Park near Beit HaLebanim. The dedication is open to the public.

The sculpture is created by Sam Philipe.

July 9, the dedication ceremony story may be the newspaper at the bottom of the bird cage. The Tribute will still be there. The Women of the IDF will never be forgotten or neglected again.
