Trump Wants A Victory Photo in Tel-Hashomer, He Deserves it and The Peace Prize

President Donald Trump, with all the criticism he deserves for his actions globally and internally, deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for pressing down on Netanyahu, Hamas, Qatar and Turkey to reach a deal and end the war, which has led to the deaths and suffering of thousands in the past two years, starting with the massacre of October 7th, 2023.

For that result, he is worthy of the prize.

But as I understand, and this is not widely explained, the committee that chooses the winner is discussing and considering possible contenders starting in January and until September. So there was no technical way to give Trump the prize a day after an end to the war deal was signed. Even if he deserves it.

Trump is not coming to Israel for a ceremony at the airport, and not even to speak to the Knesset. He wants a victory photo with hostages. And for that, I believe he will also visit Tel Hashomer hospital, where the hostages will arrive by helicopter. This is probably the reason Netanyahu visited Tel Hashomer the other day. Trump and Netanyahu might even hold a press conference in the hospital. Both politicians can benefit from such photos with the released hostages.

Obviously, the release of the hostages, even with a reluctant Netanyahu, indicates Netanyahu is going for elections. But Netanyahu’s situation in internal polls is poor. Some of them talk about 42 seats for the current coalition. I would take surveys with a grain of salt.

But this is worrying as he might be planning another act of war, probably against Iran. To show his right-wing supporters he is a “tough guy.” And as I wrote before, I believe this move is syncronized with the Trump administration, as the main unofficial condition to agree to end the war in Gaza.

For the Palestinians, an end to the war, even after around 60,000 Palestinian deaths and a complete destruction of Gaza in two years, they will still consider this war, which exploded on October 7th, as a win. Their biggest win in their history (over 1,100 Israelis murdered or killed).

I sincerely hope that this war would end which will mean an end to wars in our region for a while. My children, like many children around Israel, are still panicking when there is a siren. I hope all the kids, Israelis and Palestinians, could have some quiet and peaceful time. No missiles, no murders, no sirens, an end to suffering and a beginning of healing. Quiet (as peace is only wishful thinking). We all need some time to live uneventful lives.
