Two of a Kind and Hatred

“”Self-hating Jews , once again poison whatever they touch” [Joseph Telushkin, Tablet , August 25, 2016]

” I know that my ancestors were killed, died, uprooted from their land—–” [ Rashida Tlaib, Jerusalem Post, July 14, 2019}.

Hatred has origin, no matter the century, nor the geography. It cannot be comprehended, despite all excuses or rational. Beyond generalities, Michael Lateman astutely notes, “If there is any hatred more enigmatic than anti-Semitism, it is Jewish anti-Semitism. Our self-hatred is a sinister, undying fountain, but it will not dry out until we find its trigger and defuse it.”

For sure it did not commence with Bernie Sanders nor George Soros. Sarah Honig reminds us of the exploits of “The Ghost of Rosa Luxemburg” , one given to Zionism being anathema, much like other inveterate ideological Jews in Israel at the time. She was reviled as a Jew and her ghost permeated the nation Israel throughout the years. Her revolutionary Communist doctrines were falsely ascribed to all Jews.

Rosa’s antipathy to Jewish causes was a near-boastful expression of alienation from her own Jewish roots. So extreme was she that her reaction to pogroms resulted in such words as “I have no room for Jewish suffering. Even more so, her response to a friend Mathilde Wurm, “Why do you pester me with Jewish troubles? I feel closer to the wretched victims of the rubber plantations of Putumayo or the Negroes in Africa—-I have no separate corner in my heart for the ghetto.”

Typical of other self-hating Jews or Jewish anti-Semites, call them as you may, Rosa’s cords of disagreeable Jewish connections arose through a common belief that disagreeable Jewish connections gains acceptance beyond the ghetto. This then was her belief, her ticket to citizen-of-the-world credentials.

Astutely, Honig recognizes that logically, Israel ought to be the last place in which to expect Jewish self-loathing. Was not Zionism looked upon as the remedy to Rosa-variety complexes? In answer, she feels that the Zionist cure may be of limited effectiveness when weighed against the collective mental aberrations, which 2,000 years of exile, helplessness and dependence on the whims of associated potentates and tyrants inculcated in downtrodden Jews.

To further her arguments about insecure Israelis, Sarah Honig brings to mind, A.B.Yehoshua [Boolie], whose scathing op-ed, which he chose to scribble for the Italian leftist La Stampa is a case in point; Avrum Burg who compared Israel to Nazi Germany and acquired a French passport, and Richard Wagner [one of the prime progenitors, and financiers of modern racial Jude phobia, replete with agitation,to physically annihilate Jews] , all of whom have no room in their hearts for Jewish suffering . Rosa’s ghost walks among them.

Noah Kieger addressed what he termed ,” The strange case of self-hating Jews” on YNET of 01/05/2018″. He, not surprisingly says that it is hard to understand – and even harder to accept – Jews who target their own people, but whether we like it or not, it is a reality. It is clear, however, that “these lunatics” will not succeed in harming the development and future of the Jewish state. On the other hand, he remarks extend to our may find them strange and “even insane”, it is a phenomenon we must not belittle.

Kieger sects a few examples, and in doing so, recalls the phenomenon dating back to the beginning of the Christian religion, pointing to its roots, Saul of Tarsus [Paul the Apostle]. Felicia Langer is a lawyer who defended terrorists in Israeli courts for years. She decided to immigrate to Germany, where she has been incessantly inciting and slandering Israel. Not only this, she is also active in the support of BDS, To crown it all, she gained an award, a “medal of excellence” for her efforts on behalf of an enemy, the PA.

It is hard to believe that the father of renowned violinist, Yehudi Menuhin, would for years write for the neo-Nazi and anti-Semitic weekly, National Zeitung, attacking Jews and Israel, in the most blatant manner. Reacting to one of his father’s articles in 1968, Yehudi Menuhin said, “It is a source of great pain to me.”

Jacob Golomb of the Leo Beck Institute, in dealing with the development of Jewish self-hatred, discusses its source. He studied a Jewish marginality, without which, he maintains the symptom would not have appeared at all, or at least , would not have done so in such a hideous a intense form. The consequence – international anti- Semitism. He argues that without anti-Semitism, there would be little self-hatred among Europe’s marginal Jews.

Self-hatred means being a traitor to your race, an Uncle Tom, siding with the enemy, willing the destruction of your own people.

What of contemporary times? Clearly the names of Bernie Sanders and George Soros emerge as eminent examples of Jewish self-hatred. In the case of the former, Paul Berman seems to raise a peculiar question, does the Jewish friend of one who is not Jewish but an anti-Semite be regarded as one.

Writing in Tablet of November 25, 2019 he appears to pose the question without specifically answering it. He calls it, “The Blind spot in Bernie Sanders’ Anti-Semitism Manifesto.”
“And in the same year, 2019, in which he has warned the progressive left against lapsing into anti-Semitism, Bernie Sanders has become the only candidate in the crowded campaign to surround himself with political figures who have never been able to shake off their reputations for anti-Semitism.”

Yet a further reminder from Adam Kredo on January 14, 2020 in the Washington Free Beacon. “Sanders refused to condemn Farrakhan official’s anti-Semitic screed.” The referenced official, Khalid Abdul Muhammad, a New Black Panther Party member has repeatedly expressed displays of open anti-Semitism. He has also defended Adolph Hitler’s Nazi-era atrocities.

Bernie Sanders was amongst the attendees of the J Street 2019 National Conference. This organization failed to gain acceptance by the Conference of Presidents of Major Jewish Organizations. So much for Sanders credability, since J Street is a controversial organization that describes itself as pro-Israel and pro-peace, but has been accused of being anti-Israel.

As for George Soros, his own words and actions speaks volumes:

In 2007, “I do believe that attitudes toward Israel are influenced by Israel’s policies, and attitudes toward the Jewish community are influenced by the pro-Israel lobby’s success in suppressing divergent views.” [ Opposed to the Jewish state ].

After 9/11: “We abhor terrorists, because they kill innocent people for political goals. But by waging war on terror we are doing the same thing.” [ Opposed to the Jewish state.]
In 2006: “the main obstacle to a stable and just world is the United States.” Not Iran, not Russia, not China, not Islamist terrorist groups, not transnational crime . . . the United States.[ In other words he sides with those opposed to his own citizenship i.e. the US.]
In 2010, he declared China has “a better functioning government than the United States.” [ Here again, he allies himself to a country opposed to his own citizenship.]
Blaming Jews for anti-Semitism, e.g. “I don’t think that you can ever overcome anti-Semitism if you behave as a tribe . . . the only way you can overcome it is if you give up the tribal-ness.”

George Soros has donated considerably to those who call on governments the world over to sever or downgrade their diplomatic relations with Israel and calls for BDS, and Sanctions [BDS] against Israel.

Consider now the other partner in hatred:

The Jerusalem Posts” Ilhan Omar voted 2019’s anti-Semite of the year” [Aaron Reich, January 7, 2020] serves well as an introduction to the other combatant. In this, she finds herself alongside Luis Farrakhan and Richard Spencer. The subject poll was conducted by an NGO named stopantisematism.org and their research has been recorded in a video detailing her success in the field of Jew-hatred, “accompanied sarcastically by congratulatory music and confetti.”

The Anti-Semitic list includes the following:

[a] Submitting a resolution in the House of Representatives comparing boycotting Israel to boycotting the Nazis.
[b] Supporting the anti-Semitic BDS campaign against Israel.
[c] Having her anti-Semitic statements endorsed by the infamous neo-Nazi David Duke.
[d] Accusing American Jewry of Possessing dual loyalty.
[e] Accusing Israel of having hypnotized the world.
[f] Alleging that Jews buy their influence with money, infamously stating, “It’s all about the Benjamin’s”.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali, like Ilhan Omar, is from Somalia. She underwent extensive Islamist brainwashing to make her hate Jews. Her description of the Jew-hatred endemic in Islam, and how it’s drilled into one at every turn, is frightening. She says, it is experienced it in one’s home, mosque and in madrasses. Islam is both a personal faith and public ideology, which cannot be avoided in countries like Somalia.

Ali has offered Omar sound advice by way of the Wall Street Journal, “Can Ilhan Omar Overcome Her Prejudice?”According to her, as explained in the given article, Omar can still overcome he predicament and learn to appreciate the unique culture of Judaism and the extraordinary achievement of the state of Israel.

Omar’s partner, by way of political correctness is a Palestinian. Reflecting on every accord or conference between Israel and the “Palestinians” be it Camp David, Wye, Madrid or Oslo, one of the stipulations demanded by Israel was in having Arab children educated for peace as opposed to hatred.

It never happened and consequently one can understand Rashida Tlaib’s anti-Semitism.

Amongst her many diatribes, Tlaib has compared ‘racist’ Israel to 19th -century US segregation. She claims that “there is continued dehumanization and racist policies by the State of Israel that violate international human rights, but also violate my core values of who I am as an American.” She also said, “I know that my ancestors were killed, died, uprooted from their land——” and “is looking for is recognition of what happened to the Palestinian people in 1948 at the time of the founding of the State of Israel,” and sees ” Israel is proceeding in a way that is a direct violation of Palestinians’ core right to human dignity.”

Rashid Tlaib is clearly in need of a history lesson. It could commence with the Jewish Wars or Israel’s War of Independence [1947-1949]. The Jewish–Roman wars had a dramatic impact on the Jewish people, turning them from a major population in the Eastern Mediterranean into a scattered and persecuted minority. What we do learn from this period was the absence of Arabs or “Palestinians”. A segment of the period is as follows:

1. Israeli Rule [Biblical Period]———1350 to 586 BC
2. Babylonian Conquest——————-587 BC
3. Israel Autonomy [under Persian and Greco-Assyrian sovereignty —538 BC to 168 BC
4.Revolt of the Maccabees—————168 BC to 143 BC
7. Rule of Moslem Caliphs————–637 AD to 1072 AD
13. Israel Rule——————————1948 AD to present time.

Hence Jewish rule of “Palestine” extended over a period of 432 years, verses Moslem Caliphate rule 432 years and was never ruled by “Palestinians”. The 1948 UN Partition Plan was totally rejected by the Arabs and accepted by the Jews.

The Arab League created the PLO in 1964, approximately 3 years before the 6 day war. To this day there is no evidence of their acceptance of a Jewish state. History demonstrates that following every concession made by Israel, terrorism resulted. Sharon’s stupid 2005 Gaza withdrawal plan virtually provided the “Palestinians” with a complete state and an entire infrastructure. The resultant outcome serves as a model to absolutely discourage any further concession by Israel.
