Two years later; the world says ‘give peace a chance’
In a moment in time, on October 7, 2023, the world took a deep breath and stood still, as images of unprovoked death, rape, and assault were filmed for posterity by murderers who since then have been elevated to victimhood. Two years, 1,400 deaths, and at least fifty hostages dead or still in captivity later, a perverse western community is discussing “peace” with the perpetrators who unabashedly and remorselessly committed these atrocities. History will not treat this epoch of degenerate politics and culpability well, and rightly so.
The anger that stops me from breathing surfaces with every front-page “genocide” and “famine” allegedly perpetrated by Israel. The fleeting moment of utter disgust as the play-by-play butchering of young people at a music festival, and the dragging through the streets of women bloodied by assault unfolded before our eyes and compelled us to understand how hatred can materialize with such vicious precision and pride. But that was only one global breathtaking moment, because what was exhaled was as bad as what was perpetrated.
The word “peace” is thrown through the air like confetti in a parade. Peace is being discussed at the expense of the October 7 victims, their families, and the hostages who were murdered or still being held captive. Antisemitism has long been a cornerstone of European society and its hatred of Jews. But when the same black cloud of visceral descends on the United States, one must admit that the problem is global. One must also ask how it was so easily “exported” and with such haste. How did the surge of antisemitism spread so quickly after October 7? There is no denying the umbilical cord that spans from the surge of immigrants from nations hostile to Jews and Israel, and the current persecution of Jews on both sides of the pond. It cannot be denied, nor can it be ignored.
A few months ago, I wrote about Great Britain not being great to Jews. The attack on the Heaton Park Synagogue in Crumpsall, Manchester, brings this statement home to the thousands of Jews around the globe who are facing the same fears that Jews in Europe felt pre-Shoa—according to Sky News, the perpetrator, who rammed his vehicle into the building, then proceeded to use a knife to attack those in attendance for Yom Kippur, was a Syrian by the name of Jihad al-Shamie, who, the police claimed was on bail over suspected rape but not on the “radar of counter-terror police”, how reassuring. Of the two killed in the attack, one was mistakenly shot by the police. Al-Jazeera, the anti-Israel rag disguised as a relevant news medium, had the gall to point out that the killer did not carry a gun, only a knife, inferring that Jihad al-Shamie was somehow blameless for the death of this Jew.
The West picks and chooses its moral ground and indignation. I will disregard the irrelevance of the UN, as it would be a waste of my intellectual time to discuss its egregious and vitriol anti-Israel narrative. It has long tried to disguise its antisemitism as justice. It stands proudly on its record of Israel-bashing while condoning terrorism and terrorists and raising the latter to the stature of diplomats. The hypocritical irony is that the UN Global Perspectives on Human Stories reports that there are 50 million dying of hunger in West and Central Africa (May 2025). There is no mention of Gaza or its famine in its report. The nations mentioned were Chad, Cameroon, Mauritania, Niger, and Nigeria. Yet the political anti-Israel drum is beating louder than ever in Europe, especially the UK, France, Ireland, and, of course, Malta. Malta has a dubious history of Arab alliances and courtship such as with Libya and Gaddafi in the 70s and mid-80s.
Malta was implicated in the December 21, 1988, Pan Am 103 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland. In December 2023, the BBC ran an article on the Lockerbie bombing entitled Lockerbie bombing: The ultimate detective story? (Cowan, 2023). It laid down the events that eventually linked Malta to the bombing through its close friendship with Libya, Gaddafi, and intentionally or unintentionally with his intelligence service. Plane fragments directly linked the transportation of the bomb to a Libyan called Abdelbaset al-Megrahi. The FBI and joint US-UK-German and Swiss agencies followed his trail and that of other bombers from Libya to Malta. Immigration records showed that Megrahi had arrived in Malta on a false passport the day before the bombing. Two other Libyans were implicated, Abu Agila Masud and Al Amin Khalifa Fhimah. All three were members of the Libyan intelligence service, with a notable mention: Fhimah, was also the Libyan Airlines station master at Luqa, Malta’s airport. These accusations hung around Malta’s Labor government of that time like a noose. It took a drastic change in government and the Gorbachev-Bush summit meeting of 1989 for Malta to regain credibility and a semblance of respect. This explains Malta’s current Labor government’s second love affair with another terrorist-ridden organization and pseudo-state. Malta has not only recognized a “Palestinian State” but opened a “Palestinian State” embassy, which, if memory serves me correctly, is still a non-entity. A historical repetition of bad decisions, wrapped in corruption, which will certainly take the country down the same rabbit hole as before.
The UK, under Starmer, has been torn apart by scandals and incompetence. In January 2025, The Free Press published an interview with Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Julie Bindel, two feminist activists who exposed gang rapes by Muslim Pakistani men on young women all over the UK. These gangs approached and groomed young girls to either use them as prostitutes or rape them. When these girls reported the rapes, the police ignored them. British legacy media refused to cover the stories because it would endanger “social harmony” and tolerance! These heinous acts have been going on and ignored by the British government since 2021. Some, like Ali and Bindel, are speaking out against the Islamic intolerance of Western moral standards and how the government is turning a blind eye, but not without risks to their personal and professional lives. The UK ignores gang rapes by Muslim men but jails a comedian for “hate speech” because of his opinion on transgenderism. Unless the UK takes strong action against its growing Islamic radicalism, it will lose control of its Judeo-Christian identity as it bends down to demands by radical cultures hostile to Western rights and laws. Manchester is not a one-off antisemite attack. It is a pattern of embedded Jew hatred and antisemitism allowed and tolerated by a Western government too afraid and too impotent to act.
In the meantime, France’s interior minister, Bruno Retaulleau, is warning of a Muslim Brotherhood Islamist movement intended to enter into grassroots politics and change France’s secular and cultural political landscape by introducing Sharia law (Le Monde, 2025). He called it “low-level Islamism” with the intention of changing French society. Retaulleau sheds a bigger picture on the subversive subtlety of Islamic radicalism in Europe. Just the fact that La Monde and AFP, both left-leaning legacy media outlets, reported this conservative’s minister trepidations and gave credence to his opinion and Europe’s disregard to this growing danger, should raise political alarms across Europe. The article explained that while radical Islam is losing steam in Arab countries, it finds fertile ground in Europe, especially France and Germany, which have the highest number of Muslim immigrants of any European country. One would think that with this threat looming on the back burner of European society, European leaders would embrace and not demonize the only democratic country in the Middle East: Israel.
Given their past and present political perversions and upheavals, these countries are an example of disingenuous political leadership. They amplify their sordid fixation on Israel while ignoring radical implications within their borders and that of their European counterparts. Starmer condemned the Manchester synagogue attack and promised that he would “protect” the Jewish communities while at the same time allowing the cries for the obliteration of Israel and Jews on his streets. The EU released a statement condemning the Manchester attack, but lip service is irrelevant when the same body of countries succumbs to the vitriol narrative against Israel. The UN general secretary also condemned the attack while allowing the condemnation of Israel to continue. The rise of antisemitism did not happen in a vacuum. It was nurtured and allowed to grow and proliferate through blood libel tropes against Israel and Jews. This is medieval Jewish persecution in the 21st century.
One of the most provocative and endearing quotes on peace comes from no other than my favorite woman and feminist, Golda Meir who said that “Peace will come when the Arabs will love their children more than they hate us.” A pragmatic truism purposely ignored for over 80 years. Two years into the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust, and political and global leaders are still debating and brokering peace, and always at the expense of Israel.
This is a good time to quickly summarize Trump’s peace plan in a nutshell: The plan includes an apolitical Palestinian committee overseen by a Board of Peace with notable members such as former British Prime Minister Tony Blair. Included will also be the economic and infrastructure rebuilding of Gaza under an International Stabilization Force, which makes sure that this new utopian Gaza will not include Hamas, and will not be allowed to become a threat to Israel or its neighboring countries. It also includes the now-all-too-familiar release of Palestinian prisoners from Israel (no surprise there) and eventually, if successful, Palestinian statehood. An ambitious plan, one of many, which those of us who are old enough and lived long enough to remember every war on Israel will attempt to avoid cynicism as we keep an open mind on its success. However, it is common knowledge that at the end of the day, Israel always manages to pull the short straw.
