UN’s Failures Exposed in 2024

2024 has brought shocking revelations about the United Nations (UN), an organization originally established to promote global security and peace. Its failures, particularly regarding the Palestinians, highlight that despite post-World War II intentions, the UN has lost its effectiveness. The events of October 7 have illustrated a betrayal of Israel’s victims and fueled global anti-Semitism.
Once viewed as the premier body for enforcing international law, the UN’s biases became clear post-9/11, particularly in its inability to resolve conflicts in the Middle East and address claims of land ownership by Palestinians. Established in 1945 after the League of Nations failed, the UN was designed to ensure peace and stability. However, by the end of the Second Iraq War, it struggled to uphold its mandate, leading to millions suffering under dictatorial regimes due to conflicts among its founding powers— the UK, US, Soviet Union, and China.
Recently, Israel expelled UNWRA over its ties to Hamas members involved in the October 7 attacks. Despite a recently started lawsuit against the UN that “… claims UNRWA led a billion-dollar money laundering scheme to aid Hamas”, the UN continues deceitfully to maintain its innocence. The lawsuit may bring the UN’s downfall. If successful, the lawsuit may expose UN-pro-Palestinian-terrorism biases that have directly contributed to a global refugee crisis with over one hundred and ten million refugees, global terrorism, and dramatically increased global anti-Semitism not seen on such a scale since World War II. Allegedly, these biases also continue to allow Russian implementation of its Soviet ‘Active Measures’ tactics. These tactics were designed to undermine global security and peace, and to destabilize the West, UK, US, and Israel. If true, the Soviet Union’s role in the UN’s decline dates back well before its creation, with “Active Measures” known to have started as early as the 1920s. Russia’s alleged manipulation of Islamic nations as terror proxies may be proof enough. However, the UN’s inability to address these issues alone, particularly due to veto powers from China and Russia, has rendered it ineffective, possibly as early as the 1990s.
“In many ways, active measures reflect the wartime mentality of the Soviet leadership, as similar tactics were used by the British Special Operations Executive (SOE) and U.S. Office of Strategic Services (OSS) during the Second World War…” – ‘Active Measures: Russia’s Covert Geopolitical Operations’, Mark Galeotti, George C. Marshall European Center for Security Studies (2019)
Without reform or replacement, the UN’s failures will exacerbate conflicts like those seen on October 7. Current geopolitical tensions, including Russia’s actions in Ukraine and its support for Islamic terrorism, could lead to a broader conflict, even World War III. The question remains: Is it too late to establish global unity against these threats, or are current woke ideologies merely a distraction from the real dangers posed by Russia, China, terrorism, and the UN?
