Venezuela’s Occupiers Per Machado = South Africa’s Allies
In a live-streamed press conference this week, Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado delivered a devastating indictment of her nation’s fate. At the 24:27 mark she declared that Venezuela “has been invaded for years” and explicitly named the occupiers: Russian agents, Iranian agents, terrorist groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas, and transnational criminal syndicates including drug cartels. These are not trading partners or diplomatic allies, Machado insisted; they are foreign powers and terrorist organizations that keep Nicolás Maduro in power, plunder the country’s wealth, traffic drugs and humans, and crush its people, turning Venezuela into a global criminal hub.
Every entity on Machado’s list is designated by the United States as either a state adversary or a terrorist organization. Every single one is openly embraced by the ANC government of South Africa.
Pretoria’s alignment is no longer ambiguous. South Africa remains the only historically Western-aligned democracy that:
– Refuses to impose sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine,
– Hosts Iranian warships in joint naval exercises along the Cape sea route,
– Publicly invites Russia and Iran to bid on its 2,500 MW nuclear expansion program,
– Shields the Maduro regime from every UN human-rights resolution,
– Maintains decades-old intelligence channels with Hezbollah through Cuba while rolling out the red carpet for Hamas delegations after the October 7 massacre.
This is not “non-alignment.” It is active, deliberate collaboration with the very occupiers Machado named: Russian agents, Iranian agents, Hezbollah, Hamas, and transnational criminal syndicates. South Africa is not merely complicit; it is their protector, their facilitator, their banker, their diplomatic shield, their safe harbor, and their loudest apologist in the democratic world. The same ANC that screams “occupation” at Israel openly embraces, funds, arms, and defends the worst occupiers, terrorists, and human-rights violators on earth. That is not hypocrisy. That is enmity.
The conclusion is unavoidable: The ANC Government of South Africa has devolved into an enemy of the United States, of the West, and of the millions of Venezuelan victims suffering under Maduro and his criminal gangs.
The ANC regime now serves as the African bridgehead for Russian mercenaries, Iranian sanctions-evasion networks, Chinese strategic port access, Cuban intelligence operations, terrorist safe havens for Hezbollah and Hamas, and transnational narco-trafficking routes. It has squandered the moral capital earned in the fight against apartheid, repurposing it as a battering ram against the liberal international order while weaponizing the “Global South” brand to launder legitimacy for the world’s most repressive regimes.
Just as Nicolás Maduro is the mortal enemy of a free Venezuela and of the West, the ANC regime has become an enemy state: propping up tyrants, harboring terrorists, and waging lawfare against democratic allies.
María Corina Machado is fighting for a free Venezuela.
The free world now knows exactly where Pretoria stands in that fight.
South Africa is not pivoting. It is not hedging.
It has arrived: on the wrong side of history, in open opposition to every value it once claimed to defend.
History will not forgive those who continue to pretend otherwise.
